Testing 15" Nightshade SPL

Will the NS-X use the same motor as the NS? Im guessing it will ... Are u just stepping up to a coil that will handle more power for the NS-X? Do u have relese dates for any of the new subs yet?

Completely different motor, actually.

ETA for the NS-X is before SBN.

Testing the "Monster" sub in the same box today for fun / R&D :

New best with two 3000s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

We re-built it with just three spiders.

Again this affirms my notion that the setup with 5 spiders would have liked to see more power.

May try the three spider version with four amps to see if it continues to gain too.

Just doing it for fun / R&D in general now!

So I am up 1.2 dB vs. the Nightshade on roughly equal power on tap - not too bad.

When we originally tested the Monster in there it had five spiders - too stiff for "only" 6kw or so on a burp.

For those that may not know what the Monster prototype is, reference here:

As it is it will not make production - we are going bigger and badder.

I actually expect he NS-X to be just as loud if not louder than this version of the Monster - hope to find out soon when the prototype comes in!

Very nice! 1.2 dB gain with the same power and same box. [borat]Verraahhh niiiiice![/borat]
Nick, it's louder than the Mag V4, what are you going to do about that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Wow, that is very very impressive for the monster. I can't wait to see what is in store for the future NS-X and final monster. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif:eek:

I'm excited too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This design is good but not terribly efficient... handles alot of power and gets loud. I believe the NS-X will solve the inefficient part and retain all of the power handling.

Pics from today's event. This is Jacob's Jeep w/ one Sundown prototype "Monster" 15" sub powered by a pair of Sundown saz-3000s.
