Testing 15" Nightshade SPL

Stock 15" D2 Nightshade - Short Coil, Stock Cooling, 3 spiders

Power = 2x SAZ-3000Ds strapped @ 1 ohm (internal strapping)

I matched my best score with the "Monster" design prototype with the stock Nightshade.

This confirms my theory that the Monster design *NEEDED* a ton of power to get loud so we will continue work on the Monster design to increase efficiency AND power handling. Of course... the Monster would take this sort of power continuously and the stock Nightshade for burps only - so it is not quite apples to apples!

I tried turning up the head unit more but did not gain any more SPL - just got the sub hotter!

yes i did, i can come down thanksgiving break, if not then my dad will just have to go down again, sucks being at college!

and yeah i know, btw i decided what to do on amps, im keeping the ab500.1 and just adding 3 more

How long did you run it for before it got hot?

I did about 8-9 burps - for 4-5 seconds each... and accidentally did one for about 10 seconds as my HU does not remember pause when I turn the car on and off *laughs*

It was hot but not failure level hot - just a small odor of coil heat.

I do suggest a SMALL box... mine is about 2.4 cubes + port for the 15.

Jacob, Is the box tone only or is it tuned for daily?

Tune is in the low 40s and it peaks at 50 Hz in the Jeep.

I do listen to it any time I'm driving the Jeep - it does have a nice peak but is not burp only by any means.
