Tcguy85's simple SQ install log:

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out for you. Mine are mounted in the sail panels and I also have them crossed high (4k) since they started to sound a bit worse going down from there. Definitely wondering how your stage height is with the tweets down low.

Which version of True RTA is that? And your using the $100 RTA setup Jorge wrote about correct? Gotta order that stuff up so I can be ready to do some serious tuning.

tweeters that low drop the stage? Nice install and should sound good.
i had a different set of tweeters there in the past and stage height seemed kinda low.

are there ways around it? they shouldn't seem low when mounted there?

i had tweeters mounted in the same location before and it sounded nice but just lacked stage height. i'm gonna see what i can do about that now that these are much better tweeters. maybe it'll be different this time around.

it's level one. the 1/3rd octave. an yes it's the $100 rta setup, but it's more like $175 if you want at least the 1/3rd octave truerta and then you have to buy a usb cable if you don't already have the right one at your house. i still think its a great little investment.

Sweet, thats what I was thinking about the RTA, I should have the USB cable and such just need to tack on the cost of the higher resolution software. Totally agree on the investment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif Try and make more use of my TruckPuter as well too lol, laptop would probably be easier but would be cool to just have it right in-dash.

Best of luck on getting the stage height back, with them right on axis and the better tweets should work out pretty good for you.

so if you have a set of comps mounted in the kicks and another set of comps with a mid in each door and a tweet in each side of the pillars would that balance out the stage height

i would imagine you would enjoy the tweeters a little bit higher. I have seen a bunch of installs with the tweets sitting all lonely down so low.

I love the car and the install/setup is extremely clean! I like what you have done, i just imagine the tweets would be a little nicer up in the A-pillars or at least in the door somewhere./

tonight when i got home from work i got them aimed 100% on axis. aimed them at the center of the drivers side headrest at ear level. sounds soooo nice! better than ever. amazing detail without overpowering the mids. sounds really smooth, yet still detailed up top.

to aim them i got a little creative with a laser pointer and a piece of mdf. i cut out a piece of mdf that would fit into the PVC fitting and then drilled a hole in the center of it and stuck the laser pointer into it. i then aimed them and took out the hot glue gun and went to town. the are rock solid!

just need to get some body filler or putty or something and blend them in, and then paint them up.

a pic of my homemade aiming tool

Man, I wish I had the time and well, ahh.........patience you have, lol! I would be so frustrated by now!

Not to bad, but I am sure they will look better once you get them all painted up and stuff. I commend you on you testing, testing and testing to see where they would sound the best to you. I could only imagine how good my set would sound if I was to mess around with that, but don't have an RTA to mess around with, nor the know how really.

Congrads again and enjoy. I do have a feeling you will be getting something else soon, or moving them again. Just a hunch. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

why do ya say that?

You seem to be a big audio enthusiast and don't seem to be happy with something for too long, or like me, just like to try new stuff. You loved your RSD's so much and went with those, then weren't happy with those after a while and keep the tweets because you said you loved them so much. Then you were happy and wrote a review about that setup and then wanted a different tweeter and went the Sea's. Then put them up in the APillar and wrote a review how much you liked them there after getting them dialed in. Well now you are not happy with it and put them back down in the kicks.

Just saying, you like to try different stuff, I imagine you will want something different after a while. Nothing wrong with that, I am much the same way, which sucks when you have no bank, lol!

i gotcha. i keep saying that i'm done. but it never ends man.

i got no bank either. this cost me a dollar so far(the two pvc fittings). the last pillar project cost me maybe 20 bucks. i'm really not spending THAT much.

Go to a shop and tell them to make some custom A-pillars for the tweets and tell me it don't cost much, lol!

Just be glad you have skillz to do the ish yourself. I do too, just don't have the time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
