anyone know if i can run a md 8k 2 ohm at a .5 ohm load?
i have 2 sundown x18 v3s D2
ur speaking a foreign language to me lmao. but what ur saying is im stuck at 2 ohm.If you are talking about burping a single frequency where you know how much impedance rise you have and it is above 2 ohms, then yes you can.
If you’re talking about wiring it for .5 ohms for music, then no. The easy way to think about this is that . 5 ohms would require 4 times more current than 2 ohms would.
thank you sir. im gonna run 2 ohm til i get a different amp. any recommendations for a .5 amp? i need atleast a 8kOnly do it with an amp designed for 0.5 ohm loads. A daily system is not the system to run an amp below rated impedance.
If you're subwoofer impedance is going to be 0.5 ohm, find an amp that puts out the power you need at 0.5 ohm.
Running a Taramps that isn't rated for it is basically a death sentence. Same with most other amps. Sure there can be impedance rise that can allow an amp to run okay, but it is a gamble and I'd leave it for people competing and or trying to squeeze every last watt out of an amp with zero regard for blowing an amplifier.
not even with a different amp?
Agreed. Why not stay with the 2ohm stable Taramps? At .5 ohm you lose efficiency. Those are 2000 watt subs. Why are you trying to add more power than 8000 watts?
Goodness you are going to have to defend that claim.Agreed. Why not stay with the 2ohm stable Taramps? At .5 ohm you lose efficiency.
