I bought my first setup only a couple months ago but its not as loud as it was when i first got it lol. my setup is...

-SUBS-2- 12" JBL GT4's - 4 OHMS, in a ported box

-AMP--Alpine MRP-M450

-H/U--Alpine CDE-9873

and this is in a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire

Anyways I was woundering what would be the best thing to buy to make it better?

-A new amp with more power

-larger gage wireing (im not sure what mine is but it is pretty small wire compared to most of the peoples on here)

-New 6x9's for the back (there stock right now)

-Some mid bass for the doors

also if there is something else i should spend my money on please tell me

BTW i know its not a great car and probly not a very good setup, but its my first, Thanks

lol it depends on what louder means to you, if you want more bass then i guess new woofers and a bigger amp (unless your not powering your woofers to their max rms) but i'd change the stock 6x9's and add some tweeters, but then again i like to hear the music not just the bass. most people when they say louder they mean more bass. also the box makes a big difference. for most people here to help you (they know more than i do) you'd have to give thm specs i.e. woofers rated power handling, amp watts, cub and tunning of box.. then i guess they can help you more.

**** that was quick. lol, well first problem, 2x 250= 500, your amp is not even powerful enogh for those woofers. you might wanna get something bigger, try to get an amp that can overpower your woofers that way you wont have to turn the gain all the way up, it'll cause distortion that will mess up your woffers, in your case i'd go with 800 rms. thats for bass, if you want louder as in voice and the rest of the music, then upgrade your door speakers and 6x9s, you might also wanna get tweets (but its all up to you and what "LOUD" means to you)

or even if someone could tell me what exactly i need to look for in a amp that will go with everyting else i have so i can just switch out my amp with out having to change a bunch of stuff

with those subs you wont be able to get them a whole lot louder. if louder is what you want you should save to get one high rms sub and amp. you can run 1 kicker l7 (for instance) at 750+ rms that would be alot louder than what you have now... whats your budget? and also do you want sq or spl?

also in a ported box is vague. you know the tunning and size and all that? Chances are if its small prefab you can get louder with a new box. On a side note, your system probably isn't loosing volume, your just used to it now. This is the bass itch... Once you scratch it, you just want more.

a good many people agree that you get use to the loudness of your system and it may start to seem "not as loud". dont listen to it for a week or so and then see how it sounds

lol i kno my system isnt losing volume. i didnt really want to go spend a bunch more money on my system yet (in te process of getting some rims for the ride) but its sounding like thats what will need to happen for what i want.

im not to set on if i want more sq or spl

and it is just in a prefab ported box and im not sure the speq on that

if i was to put new door speakers, 6x9's and a new amp and possibly some bigger wire would this make a big difference in my sounds?(not sure if the bigger wire would make a difference, would it?)

and if these would make a difference in what order would you buy them?

new wire = better power flow, what are you running now? and with front stage and 6x9's you'll get some midbass and high gains, you would probably want to run an amp to those (depending on what you get) to get all you can out of them, if you want more bass, thats a different story.

front door speakers is what id get first and an amp to push them

If you want more bass, I would check the enclosure first. Measure the outer dimensions (length width height) then measure the port, if its a round port, the diameter, and then length(just hook the catch on the tape measure at the bottom) or square we need inner length, width and height. That will give us some idea on what we can squeeze out of what you got, however, if bass is what your after, changing up all your mids and highs are gonna make your problem worse. Louder mids and highs will make your subs not seem as loud respectively.
