Hey dewdz,

I'm from Holland and I have a friend (which according to him is known by you guys) named beastyle (atleast, thats is nick) who recently died on cancer.

I have a lot of the same interests as him and he left me a couple of amplifiers, speakers, real small speakers and a bass box with a lot of cables.

i truely have no clue of what it all means nor how to connect it, beastyle told me you guys where pretty straight with good and solid information so I thought i would try here...

hardware that i know i received:

phoenix gold amps, one does 2x50 rms and one does 2x25rms

phoenix gold xmax8 (little black box with big speaker)

phoenix gold elite12d (huge long speaker lookalike thing, ways around 30kg)

(dont even know if that is a real speaker)

two pioneer front speakers (round, so must be front)

two sony xplod rear speakers (oval)

two 2cm round things with speaker cable, looks like a speaker but is it a real one?

hope you guys can help me put it in, where to start ?

Man I'm sorry to hear that. I miss beastyle. We use to chat all the time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Installations differ between cars. But for a general idea this site http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm will help alot. After reading let me know if you have any questions. I myself or someone else will be more than happy to help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Lets see if I have read it right,

I put a cable around 10mm round from my battery to my trunk for powering the amplifiers (is 10mm enough?) and a blue pretty wide cable (two pairs with small wire in middle) that was labeled by the salesman as a "RCA datacable" which will be connected from my cdplayer to the amplifier, according to that side I should put the + on the left and the rca on the right, never together on one side (my guess is jumping signals?)

Then there's a small blue signal cable that is labeled remote, where to go with that ?

If i'm right about the - then it should just be connected to a blank piece of metal in the trunk

speakers i understand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

GAIN/SENS/OHM/XOVER - LP/HP/RBP

what do those mean? Those are all sorts of thingies that are on the amps.

Yesterday night I opened the last box and found another amplifier looking thing but its mad big. The text on the device says "Octane" and the brand is also phoenix gold, i looked it up on the internet and it should be a amplifier. I imagine that this unit does more then the smaller one's but i dont want to put in all of those amps, whats the best to do, put in the octane or the two small phoenix amps?

I have 2 rear speakers, 2 front and 2 real small thingies also for front i think

the bass box has an amplifier build in so that should be easy to fit, the other speaker (elite 12d phoenix) is huge and looks like a monster which can harm my car.

I looked both up, the box is 100w RMS and the elite12d is 1200 RMS which i recon to be to much, i want a nice and solid bass but no bumping car, which to use ?

Another question (last for now) is what the value of the items is because some of the items will remain uninstalled and i want to put whatever remains uninstalled on ebay or something.... have no idea what they are worth and i cannot find them in a sale section on the internet

Rca cables are labeled left and right or color coded in some way. Just make sure you connect the same at the amplifier and the cdplayer.

The cdplayer should have a wire labeled remote turn on or power antenae. From there to the remote turn on terminal on the amplifier.

Nope just connect the ground only to the metal of the car.

I'm looking into that I'll get back to you.

hey man...if you get a chance could go to this threed

http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9838&

....and print it off and if possible give that to his parents....im sure they would appreciate it.....i know i would if my son had recently passed...anyways...im sorry to hear he passed on....

Ramos: tnx enormously for your help man, appreciate it a lot

Goddy: Thanks for that link a lot, its pretty touchy reading it (atleast for me) and you where right with the parents, i will print it and hand it to them... even with the message so sad i think they would want to read every word he wrote or typed in the last period of his life.

tnx alot both of you

PS: Its he who ended his life by choice, he was undergoing chemo sessions with caused unhuman pains which he did not want to handle considered the short period of time it would bring him IF it succeeded, in holland we have a thing called "Euthanasie" which i have no idea how to translate it to english, but its a medical operation they give you in the hospital resulting in a painless death, one can ask for euthanasie if in horrible medical situations, he chose to do so

Yeah man I'm real sorry to hear that. Glad to be help. Need anything else let us know. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

wow. I just read all this, and I don't even know Beastyle, but I can say that this is the saddest thing I have heard in a while. My prayers are with his friends and family that they can remember the good times they had with him and cherish those moments. This really made me take a step back from life and look at the big picture. It is great to see that so many of the people on the forum responded. Epocz, it's great that you are printing out all the responses, I'm sure Beastyle's parents will love to see that he was someone we held in high regards.

yeah, i never knew beastyle either. I saw him post on here, but i never actually talked to him. I just wanna say that my prayers go out to his family and friends, and i'm sorry to hear about his passing

Man, this saddens me...beastyle was a very knowledgable guy, and he will be missed...my sympathies go out to you and his family...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Okay to basically sum it up, you have your RCA's which will run from the back of the head unit (CD player) to the RCA in on your Amplifier, then you have your main power (will run on opposite side of RCA's, noise inductants as you stated before) wire from the + on the battery to the Power on the Amplifier, your ground wire you will ground to the chassis of your car (bare metal) then connect to the ground on your amplifier. From there you will connect one speaker wire to the + on the speaker, then run it to the + on the amp, same for the -(negative on speaker to negative on amp)

You asked about GAINS/SENS/XOVER/LP/HP

Gain is a setting on your amp used to match the signal coming from your Head unit. Some Head Units come with a 2 volt signal, some come with 4 or more. So depending on how strong your head unit is, you will need to adjust the gain accordingly, usually the best way to do this is to turn the volume up 3/4 then turn your gain slightly until you hear distortion, then back off the gain a little and your done.

I'm thinking SENS probably has to do with the gain, you might want to fool around with it and see what effect it has.

XOVER - this determines what frequencies reach your sub, usually the average person sets their XOVER around 80 hz for a 12, but you can set it higher such as 120 or lower if you want. Basically you will just want to listen while you adjust it, and leave it where it suits you best.

LP/HP - Low Pass/High Pass, Low Pass will set the amp for Low Frequencies, High Pass will set the amp for High Frequencies(HP is used for running front and rear speakers such as 6 1/2's and 6x9's) LP is used for running subs.

You also stated you don't want to much bass, you may find that your bass box is enough for you. So as you stated you may want to sell it on ebay, or hold onto it for meaningful purposes. Basically once you have it set up, you can fool around with the settings on your head unit and amplifier and can control how loud your system will get.

If your still unclear about anything feel free to keep asking questions, no question is a dumb question. Any friend of Beastyle is a friend of ours.

Good Luck

Phat
