system trouble

i am having trouble trying to figure out what is wrong.. i have a 5500watt banf amp 1 ch and a 8 frad cap.. 2 12" mofos.. it is hooked to a 80amp breaker and the amp is hooked to a conerter which is hooed to the factory speaker.. the bass will hit hard and fade out.. sometimes hit hard for a minute then back to not so hard.. but when it does hit hard the lights go dim.. does anyone might know why? thanks
