System for a '68 Mustang?

What can I do to upgrade the stereo in my '68 Mustang? There is a Kenwood head unit in there right now the goes through the original one main speaker in the dash, but it is crappy. I'm looking to take it out and put in something new. I've got around 200 to 300 bucks to spend and I'm just looking for a good system with nice sound quality to rock to, I don't need subs for base or anything because I don't listen to rap and this is a classic car we are talking about here. I'd appreciate any suggestions or reccomendations you guys have for me because I've been reading around here and you guys really know what your doing, while I know nothing. Thanks in advance.

u only need 1speaker for the whole car????

in our 68 (sold now, it sucks balls not having it), we had a component set up front 6.5", and set of rear coaxials in the rear with a denon deck and two 8"s. sounded super clean.

I don't really want only one speaker that's just the way the car is now. It all runs through the speaker in the dash. That's why I wanted some new stuff.

friend of mines gotta drop top 63 nova, an hes got a pioneer deck w/ a pair of inifnity 6 1/2 co-ax's on the doors and a pair in the rear for passengers. sounds good wen the exhaust isn't all in yur ear ya know.

he's also gotta type-s 10" in the trunk but u said u weren't lookin for bass. the co-ax's do good though

There are no factory speaker holes in the doors or on the rear sides. it just has the single speaker that comes up out of the dash. If I add speakers to the doors and the rear, how will I do it with no existing speakers? Am I going to have to get it installed professionally? Thanks for the suggestions I'm looking into it.

Do you think I can get a head unit, maybe a Pioneer DEH-P3800MP, and then two 6.5 Infinity Reference 6012si's, install those speakers in the two doors, and then have much better sound quaility? Anything would be an upgrade from what I have now, but do you think this would be a good set-up for my vehicle?
