I do not now, haven't in the past, and do not plan in the future to run an Alpine HU so I have absolutely zero experience with their units outside of the CDA-7875 I bought at a yard sale for $20 for something to kick around. So take that for wahat it is worth...

Having said that if I am reading your question correctly I think what they are wanting to know is if you are running a passive (I think is what they are meaning by a 2-way) or an active (3-way) setup.

I could be completely off base here so hopefully someone with a bit more experience than my none with Alpines will chime in to either verify my assumption or correct my total error.
