Sundown Vs Orion, everyone else

What is everyones opinion on the matter? Im looking to get either a sundown audio x10 or 12 or a Orion hcca 10 or 12. The magnet on the x rev 2 series is 660 oz on either size and the hcca is 264 on 10 and 445 oz on 12. Im looking to put two audio pipe apcl 1800s on either sub. i figured audio pipe doesn't do rated so it should be ok. I had a hdc3 10 and it blew quick on the 1800apcl. Any other sub recommendation around the same price range (450) is welcomed. Thanks everyone

Of the two sundown (it's not even close ).

For your budget you can afford a good USA sub like the ssa icon/xcon, dss ethos, or fi bl (all of those subs have USA voice coil, motor machined in house, and fully assembled here which means near perfect quality control ).

I would do the HCCA over the X

But either will do very well and sound great on that power

I love my X's but the older gray HCCA I had was a beast and took a solid 3k

The HCCAs take much more power to get moving though

Mine didn't really come alive with the 1k I had on it as a temp amp

Also was a large box for a 15"

Also I agree you clipped your hdc3 to death

I've seen copper hdc3's take 2k all day and aluminums take 4k

maybe i only choose the HCCA because of nostalgia //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif

but the HCCA is a very capable woofer

for how good all of the $450 woofers are now a days its hard to go wrong

If I'm not mistaken aren't the soft parts on hdc3 China made? So now that I figured out the audiopipe is trash do y'all recommend the scv 1500 or 2000 for the x series. Where can I get nsv3 coils and is it hard to put it in? I would stick with the hdc3 but I'm wanting something with a big *** surround for lows and excursion!! I appreciate everyone's input //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you think orion and sundown are american made? Its all upper end china. Just like apple products etc... everything is from china. Just you got good china and bad china. HDC is considered decent above average china. Go with an SSA Evil or Xcon if you want american wound coils that can dig low.

Ok so I probably did clip it to death lol audiopipe is a cheap amp but it was what I had at the time so now that I decided on the x12 what amp do you all recommend? Scv1500, 2000? All input is welcomed thanks everyone

I would do the SCV2000 with a good american sub like this one XCON 12 Sound Solutions Audio 12" 1750W XCON Series Subwoofer - SSA STORE (especially at that price point).
Not sure of your current electrical but if you haven't made any electrical upgrades then your in watt range where you need to think about it (usually above 1000RMS on substage you need to start planning on how your physically going to produce the wattage you want)

i second this notion. now for the american amps to be more competivie in price.. mmats makes awesome ams truly some of the best amps in hte world but when the 4100 is 1k and you have similar amps for 599 whos gonna buy the mmats?
