Sundown SA - Same league as Fi / Incriminator / AA?

I just think there shits way over priced look at the sundown x series.. The 18 is over 5 hundo for a 1250 watt woofer... Really?!?! I think I'll just buy a 3000 watt fi audio sp4 low frequency beast for less than 500 all day every dau

Psst hey buddy. JL Audio isn't any different about the W7 subs. are they?!

Hell their w3 lineup is just as expensive when they 1st came out and hasn't dropped in price. Explain that one to me.

OK im going to defend sundown because its obvious your not informed.

the woofers are turn key and completely customs woofers. i've built loudspeakers so trust me when i say this.

they are by NO MEANS CHEAP to build.

the baskets are patented and custom built. you have any idea how much it cost to apply for and hold a patient? didn't think so.

the motors are custom built and are much more expensive than the basic motor FI offers..

they have custom spiders custom coils custom surrounds. anything that is good and pushes the envelope cost. R&D cost building the product cost a ton when you use almost completely designed and built in house parts. nothing is shelf parts and nothing can be bought in huge bulk to lower pricing. they aren't over priced just over built!

FI i love there builds too its more tridional and raw builds while still having excellent build and keeping cost low. they have alot of stuff me and you can buy and pretty much imitate for faily cheap.

standard surrounds cone spiders baskets. they do tool there own motors and its cool that the basic platforms are shared through a few companies making them more affordable in a bulk sense but they just aren't custom like the sundown woofers. both make great woofers and are great companies..

the sundown woofers are very overbuilt and the X is rated much much lower than other companies would rate a similar woofer.

sundown actually breaks the mold and does things differently. they aren't the cheapest and for good reason. they aren't cheap to build..

Every thing is cheap to build in China... Don't give me that... Lol that's why they build them there... A lot more profit that way

Pretty sure they moved most of their production over there. Price is jacked up even when overhead is actually lower. Jacob's wallet grows fat. At least he doesn't skimp on R&D.
hell shows how much i keep up with the times.. i will say i like the product.

regardless those woofers aren't cheap to build and they are good woofers. i know how much/hard t is to get a patent and how much they cost. and r&d isnt cheap nor is building custom parts and tooling. reguardlesss of where its at.. tarrif taxes aren;t cheap neither.

last motor i have tooled averaged 150$ per unit to build and that was an 8" motor(had some shorting rings and custom cooling).. of course though it was an american build motor.. driver costed 230 to build and it was similar to the sundown motor. retail would have been around 400 a pop..
