sundown amp high pitch noise

If you want, send it to me and ill toss it on the bench in the garage and see if i get the problem. Or do the same thing yourself and see.
Did you ever hook an ipod up or something directly to the amp ?
yeah i did. thats one of the first things i tried.

when i hooked it up obviously i got no sound cus there was nothing for the pitch to come out through, but then i hooked some rcas from the output on the sundown to the input on the full range, and i didnt get the high pitch. BUT, i also didnt get any sound into the full range, which means that the sundown didnt pass the signal on ? i didnt pay too much attention to it, cus i didnt get the high pitch anyways, so i figured it must have beens omething between the sundown and the deck that caused it

you listed a whole lotta possibilities for issues there... strip it all out and start fresh with a new deck. take your time installing everything and do it right.
I know some guys put a second deck in the glove compartment...

Nah, but there HAS TO BE AN INTERFACE adapter.... that way you can install and aftermarket deck...
yeah i have quite a few issues with my install.

idk why.

i thought i took my time the first time lol. i guess i could do a better job. but when i think back on the install. everything seems cleanly isntalled except for the processor, which i already did try trouble shooting, and problems presisted. which is why i give up.

i dont have any time anymore. i do taxes and its tax season. i go to school from 7 am to 12 and work from 2 pm to 10. work everyday except saturday. which gives me no time for isntalls =(

now i work from saturday to saturday and for the past couple of months there has been something tworn out of my car since i never have enough time to finish and put it all back together

Wait. So you hooked an ipod up directly to the RCA's on the amp ? Did you have any subs or anything hooked up when you did that to test the bass ?

no i didnt have any subs hooked up. why?

i was just tyring to test for the high pitch, so i had the full range speakers hooked up.

i know the sub most likely wouldnt produce it. theres a chance, but i figured checking through the full range was enough

Why did you switch out the Clarion for the Sundown? No offense to Jake or Sundown but that's at best a sideways move if not a slight step down seeing as the Clarion is Class GH, basically class AB with a switching PSU whereas the Sundown is Class D. Also, the Clarion is a Robert Zeff design, the same guy who designs Arc's amps and used to design Zapco and other high end amps.

well for one. the amp i need, needs to be 1 ohm stable. the clarion is only 2 =(

im very happy witht he clarion. its been extremely reliable for me. and is quite sexy.

everyone was telling me the sundown was better anyways. and beside 1 ohm stable, the sundown is more efficient, which is why i switched it out. im on a stock electrical and my clarion gave me major voltage drops and dimming.

I wouldn't say the Sundown is better, I wouldn't say its worse either. The 1 ohm requirement definitely affects your choice, but don't expect the Sundown to be much more efficient at 1 ohm than the Clarion is at 2.

That should tell you right there that it is not the Sundown that is the problem. I was going to say, turn it up with your subs on and the ipod plugged in but that shows its in your LOC/HU and not the sundown.

if i had to guess form what ive heard it sounds like the HU i had 2 kenwoods that made really bad noise and the more amps i put in the worse it got i changed it out and all problems solved and chances of 2 sundown amps doing the same thing are so slim to none that if your luck is really that bad stay away form casino's :p hope you figure it out

What? your lifestyles condom broke? I used lifestyles and none ever broke on me. Must be user error.

Easy fix. Sell the sundown.

This is a funny read. Rewire the LOC if you really aren't going to get a new HU.

finally an up date on this u guys.

****ing car audio wasnt letting me log in for **** for the past week!!!

wtf.

anyways.

so i took my car to a shop.

it cost me three ****ing hundred dollars.

turns out my processor was messed up.. according to them anyways, i do believe them, but at the same time i dont know how my processor did work fine with all my old equipment.

before anyone starts trying to give me **** or saying i told you, let me tell you, that if you wer in my position, youd be just as confused as i was.

i never completely blamed it on sundown amp, isimply said i assumed it must be the sundown after trying everything and having the sundown be the only thing that wasnt working.

its not my fault everything functioned properly with the processor exceppt the headunit.

anyways, so i took it to them and a few hours later i went back. they told me they took out my req processor and replaced it with a peripherals loc unit.

i dont really like it, but i guess it gets the job done. it puts out less quality than my processor did and it has a few less options that i got with my procssor. somehow the bass hits harder with the loc though, i thought a loc would give me less bass response, but i guess not.

with the loc the sundown seemed to work fine and there was no high pitch sound.. but what ***** the most, is that i ****ing swear that til today, a week later, my ear still hurts from the whinning the sundown made last weekend. and im not even kidding. my hearing seems more sensitive to high pitch sounds now and even with bass it kind of bothers me. i hope this **** goes away soon, or else it ****edmy hearing up for life.

im not completely satisfied with my system but i will figure it out soon and up date this soon.

You should PM Jacob and let him know everything is good and offer him shipping or whatnot for putting him out on the 2nd amp. He knew as well as us that it wasn't his amp but he still obliged to your request to replace it.
