sub x-over all the way down?

hey does anyone have the crossover on their sub all the way down? i have an MTX 1501d pushing a 12" idMAX. i have the crossover knob all the way down which is supposedly 40 hz. i have it at this setting because when i play an 80hz test tone, i can hear it pretty well at full volume. my components are set so that when they play 80 hz, it is fully audible. so i guess i dont want or need to go any higher on the x-over setting right?
