to start it off, im completely new to the sound system world. i dont know specifically what ohm's, rms, and so on are or what it means.

when i purchased my car (SRT-4) i purchases the upgraded kicker speaker set w/ a 10" sub, but the sub blows.

i got 600$ on hand and am looking to spend between 550-750max for 2 12's and a powerful sub.

some has referred me to the direction of some H2's or Atlas subs, and phoenix gold amps...but like i said, i cant decipher whats what.

something that'll shake my car and the car next to me, but still have good clarity.

for reference...im into mac dre (bay area/underground hard-hitting rap) and genre's around there.

my friends dont know shit, so you guys are my last resort on helping me spend my money wisely.

thanks for any help

~mike

first of all, you dont want bass to shake the car next to you, you want bass for music listening. Just to get things straight. If you have a stock alt, you prolly dont want more than 1000 watts all the time, it just puts too much strain on the electrical system.

Do you already have a nice head unit?

What kind of door speakers do you have?

to be honest, i dont know what model the kickers are, i just had the dealer upgrade to them.

and i plan on getting a HU sooner or later during the period of time i purchase the subs/amp

first of all you need to get a decent head unit

There are plenty of guys on here that have head units they could sell you.

I would say pick up a head unit for around $150 give or take....

A pair of 12's from someone for about $200 give or take

An amp for about $200 give or take

If you need new speakers, you can prolly get a few decent pair for about $150

Wiring kit for about $25

Hopefully you will know someone that can install the stuff....

but i think first you need to decide on a head unit to get, and then go from there, because it will **** running everything off of a stock headunit

another option would be getting

1. head unit

2. pair of components

3. amp for components

4. 1 12" sub

forgot to mention: will also need a box

5. amp for sub

i plan on getting a HU, but thats least of my worries, and the easiest to obtain.

im jus looking for a good amp/subs combo for around $600ish give or take a few tens

Well personally I think the head unit should def. be the first of your worries. But I can throw out some suggestions for you.

If you would like to save a little money, I would suggest getting these subs:

http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2540

These are two 10" Pioneer Premier, and for $70 a piece, that is a steal. These subs have the potential to get pretty loud while maintaining good SQ.

Look around for a Hifonics BX1205D, here is one on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7970038542&category=38638&sspagename=WDVW

After this, you would still have a few hundred left over, someone on here could make you a custom box if you can't and they can tune it for you for sq, sql, or spl, whichever you would like. I am sure they could build you one for close to $100 or so. Then you will prolly have $150 left, I would say get some good coaxial door speakers.
