Hey, I just got into car audio, and I'm trying to figure everything out. haha. Anyway what does it mean to tune a sub to something HZ? i know it's like the sound, but how do people know what's the best? I'm getting 2 12" alpine type r's, and I don't know what would be the best for them. Also what does SQ, mean. Sound Quality?

SQ- Sound quality

SPL-sound pressure level

HZ- Hertz, its a tuning frequency. Higher the tuning, geared for spl. Lower the tuning, geared for SQ.

The alpines will like 4+ cubes, tuned to 34-35.

Enclosures are tuned, not subs. It refers to the point of resonance in the enclosure. The tuning point of an enclosure is not related to the subs at all but different subs work better with different enclosure specs.

thanks for the info so far, what exactly is sound pressure level? sorry, like i said i'm a real noob when it comes to car audio. but thanks.
