Sub that would love 4-4500k RMS Daily?

but teh mojo 4kw is soooooo SEXY! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
i didnt say dont use it (hell, i would too, if i had it). im just saying, you dont necessarily need it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You dont 'need' 2500 watts for a daily system either. Im sorry, I know Im being negative here, but a thread that's titled asking what one sub would "love" 4500 watts "daily" just seems absurd to me. Does it not to anyone else here?

lawl sorta

i would say it depends on who you ask (reffering to the first part of the post).

the second part about the 4500 watts, yes it does. but if you already got that much power, i say might as well built it up, and use it. either that or sell it for something smaller if you're not going to use it to its full potential and are just going to "gain" it down.

Well you could gain it down and be proud of your magnificent 'headroom', or contemplate subs that dont require multi kilowatts to reach their potential.

...And here I was worried about buying power hogs when I bought my (old) xxx's. BTL's and MT's laugh at my mere 1500watts each.

When I got into car audio, a 500 watt amplifier was considered huge, very rare and cost an arm and a leg. And of course, anything that large was intended to drive several speakers. Now we have posts with people wanting to know which single sub to run off 4500 watts. I think Im having one of those jesus christ Im getting old moments.

we have run DD's on 4-6,000 daily, the question is, is there room for a 3-5 cube ported box, there are other things that are just as important as power handling, just because a sub will handle it daily doesn't mean it will sound worth a #*(& in the wrong box, this is just as important as the power handling if you want a good sounding daily driver.

I would recommend 2 subs instead of trying to put all that to 1. More cone area with 2 which will maintain higher spl for longer periods, daily, I would recommend 2 BTL 15's, 2 DP 15's, 2 HD3C 15's, and many others do you have a budget. And yeah a HO and some backup batts are a must to get the power out of that amp and so that you do not drop the voltage so low to fry it.

I can vouche for the original HD3's I have 2 in a 8 cube net box tuned to 40hz on 2 Hifonics BXI2607's and I am around 150db. And the HD3C are louder with the same amount of power and they are supposed to hit lower even with higher fs. not to mention the price

ok let me anwser a few of the major questions...

audioholic - the stock alt will be long gone as soon as i have the money for an h/o alt. and before i buy the amp my elect. will be enought to handle it. and as far as having a 4k amp for daily usage, my truck IS a daily driver but it will be used for local Compitions.. (closest thing we have is MECA, and an occisonal DB Drag) and it will be used.

yes i am power hungry, ill admit it. but im not one off the people to blast it all the time. i know theres a limit 4 everything, and im not one to find it.. haha;)

devastating_mat - as far as having enough room 4 an enclosure, i got more then enough. right now i have 8cubes in the bed holding 4 12's. i was plannin on building a 16 cubic foot enclosure or so for this build.

as of right now is looking like 2 18in Btls

and thanks 4 the intrest guys

Good luck with your system man. The system Im working on now has 3Kw for the subs.... so I guess I dont have much room to talk. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

BTW I agree with someone above... pump that power into multiple subs if its daily, into a single sub if its for competition burps.
