I don't think you will get noticeably louder on low notes in the same space requirements and the same amp by changing just the sub. Your dreaming.

I had a 10" Type X in a 1 cube sealed box, and an 18" Q in 6.67 ported at 34 hz.
I personally did not find the low end of the Q all that great.

The 10" X flexed my roof almost as much as the 18" Q did, I love the X when it comes to the low, but also thought it needed to be louder.

I've actually asked a few people the exact same question - Type X lows but louder.

I've been pointed toward the AP Axis.

Well, the ap axis was the sub I was going to recommend but he said only 1000 watts and that's not enough power to move and axis, you'll need at least 2000 watts.

I've heard a 15" axis, good stuff right there, got real low and real loud, it was tuned to 30 so it didn't hit the highs where I like them, great low end monster.
