Sub Selection

i know it is not the most orignal thread but i have a few specifics that are not covered in other "I need a new sub" threads.

i have either

300WRMS X 1 Bridged @ 4ohms or maybe

600WRMS X 1 Bridged @4ohms (

now i have limited space since i am in a mustang(who designed that **** trunk? i have a hard time fitting a sealed box for a 10" through the opening). we just recently had a baby girl so i am trying to scale down from 2 10" kicker comps (not VR) to a single 12" i am looking for a speaker that is clear but also hits pretty good..... as good at two 10 kickers preferably better. the dimensions for the box go 12"H X 20"W X 18" D thats max external dimensions. so thats about ~2.1 cubic feet? without Sub desplacement or port (if i have enough room for ported.)

i have about $200 to spend i was looking into a shiva but i am not sure it hits hard enough..... maybe RE but i am not sure which one. and will they hit harder than my 2 10" kicker comps? Thanks guys.

ok guys unlike most who dont give you enough info did i give too much? i mean i have been looking and lurking and reading about the shiva which looks really good considering its only 115 shipped. and the RE RE and the RE SE.... i would just like someone to tell my which is better for what i want.

will the shiva hit hard enough for me?(compared to 2 kicker comps.) or should i go for the RE or SE?

I would imagine the RE SE would have more SPL than the Shiva. If you could give it 600watts RMS in a ported box it would be louder than the two 10 inch Kickers. The RE SE 12 is around $190 shipped depending on how whether or not you want it in 3 days or two weeks. I have the RE SE 12 currently and had two JL 10w3's before and the SE is just as loud if not more loud than the 2 10's with the same power . You will not be disappointed.

Thanks. i dont have a dealer around here that would give me the honest truth. so i came here.

i wont know if i will be able to give it the 600 till i check out the amp. so if i had only 300 @ 4 ohms bridged.... which the SE is dual 4 ohm so i would need to find a new amp... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif the shiva on the other hand is dual 8 ohm which wires down perfectly to 4 ohm bridged.

i think i will just have to go with the shiva unless i want to get a new amp......which i dont have money for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I'd say....go with a 2003 e12k (e-logo style). Drop it in the biggest ported box you can fit...(in ur case prolly like 1.9 cubes after displacement, which i can design for you if you like...) and wire it up to the 300 watts rms. It'll wang. BTW, i have two of them, they are eD 12k's early 2003 versions. This was before eD's flat cone disaster, and b4 they were assholes. These are great SQL for the price, and were comparable to the SE (when they were both out...with the K having an edge in SQ. Now the SE is a better sub...in all ways) So, it's dvc 2ohm...and if you're interested LMK. peace

as good as two 10" kickers, preferably better.
not hard to do. i would say the re se's or the adire tempest or shiva. but alpine type r's have good sq at that level(350). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif
