digital audio 15"

Well, you could be running too much bass boost (if you are running any), which could be killing them. Or, even though "the amp is 1/4 of the way up" (the gain control), it could still be too high depending on the output voltage of your headunit and the input stage of the amp. Or, you could simply be pushing the subs too far and over-excurting them.

First; what kind of box are you using. 2nd; What exact models are your subs, amp and headunit (links would be nice). 3rd; What are all the settings (bass boost, gain control, "bass" level on you headunit, etc). 4th; How are the subs blowing.....are the coils frying or is the sub bottoming out or otherwise getting mechanically damaged?

The coils on his subs are frying. they are DA7015 subs by digital audio. They are in a ported box about 1.5 cubes each cause i built the box for him. I think he has the bass all the way up on H.U. and he has an eq and that get turns all the way up. But i helped him set the gain on the amp it is about 1/4 the way up. They are dvc 4 ohms wired to 2 ohms. The amp is not bridged it is running in stereo mode. i am a little clueless why we keep blowing them. I set the gains by ear and in now way are the subs ditorting or anything. I am not sure that the cross over is set too but it should not matter any ways. He has an alpine deck more than about 4 years old not sure which one it is.

IMO right there is the problem.

By ear is a bad method for setting the gains because you can't always hear the clipping that is killing the subs.

I know that i why i told him to be easy with the controls on the H/U. By ear is better than just turning it half-way up and saying it will work right there.
