Sub problem

Hey guys I have 2 Kicker 12 inch solo' l7's, and it seems that one sub is fully powered and the other is only gettin a little juice to it. Its vibrating, barely, and isnt bumpiong like it had in the past. I pulled it out of the box, checked all the wires, the terminals, the voice coils, nothings burned, nothings tinged. I wired it all better again, checked the RCA leads, those were fine. Well, everything is in order, and there is no noticable damage to anything. So what do you guys think is the problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I think you wired the quiet one in series, while the other is in parallel. But not 100% sure about that.

Unhook both of them and test them idependently. Try free-air and in the box.

SOMEONE???? Had this "EXACT"problem 2 days ago on this forum and it was the wiring..It was an MTX sub I remember and the Wiring was reversed on one sub..Search it!

alright ill try free air and in box. Its just weird they have been both working perfectly for 8 months now, and all of a sudden this happens. Thanks guys, any other tips are appreciated.

hmm, if that is the case, it is most likely a voice coil problem.

nope, two chamber vented box, to L7 specs.

Yeah thats what i first thought, but i checked the coils and none of them are burnt off, all of them are intact, and its still getting some power, just not doing what it used too

thinking frozen coil? if thats the case you could check nominal impedance w/DMM at the coil with the sub at rest. if its lower then spec the coil is stuck partially extended. Not totally cooked (still makes some sounds) but ****e sure not good.

Though, I've only seen that happen on rare occasions....

Acutally, i dunno if that can happen with more then SVC.... hmmm

did yah check the resistance of the vc's?

Agreed.....stick a DMM on each voice coil and see what they read. Right it down and report back, soldier.
