Sub placment question

Ok A long time ago when I had my mazda mx6 and i did a box where the subs are in the back seat and the box is in the trunk. I will show a pic. Anyways those were on a Phoenix Gold xenon 600.1 power 2 pioneer premiere ts-w12prs subs they sounded great but I am wanting to do the same thing now in my 2003 toyota echo but I have 3 subs this time and still doing ported so thats not a problem but my real question is will it really sound louder if i have the subs in the trunks facing toward the trunk or will it still be just as loud if i do it the same way as my mx6?
