Sub overheating?

I bougt a Boss Audio sub and am powering it by a 1000 watt Kenwoox amp. After about an hour or so the sub gets hot and cuts out for a minute then comes back on for a few more minutes and so on. What is the cause of this?

Sounds like your amp is overheating; not the sub. Amps have a safety feature to prevent overheating.

The amp isn't hot though, it's just barely warm

Could be low voltage then. I'm pretty sure subs don't just overheat and shut off unless they blow.
