Cruizin on the interstate... at a moderate sound level 15/35. No hands - waka flocka... so then I turn it up and notice it's not getting much louder.. I just think ok whatever, its cold i'll turn it back down... Then it popped and now the sub barely flexes at volume 28! The cone isn't frozen because I can push it in all the way.... What to do? Obviously I'm going to have to take it out of the box and inspect it,,, but what will I be inspecting for?

well the amp powers up fine... no different lights on or anything... but that makes sense... it being the amp.

test ur subs impedence with a dmm you blew a coil. its a 13"w7 too so its gonna be a big paperweight...

no you can recone them if you got massive skillz an use the factory surround n **** ive seen it done but i say pawn it an tell them your amp is low power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif an a lead i still think it is if he blew a coil he would smell it unless sealed an a lead is the wire that runs along the spider to the wire terminals from the coil

the connection between the coil lead and lead wire can burn up with no smell...

so i determined it's not the amp.. i hooked up my speaker amp to the sub and still nothing. I took it out of the box.. couldn't really determine anything... just pissed

dmm test coil impedence. touch a 9v battery across the each coil watch for cone movement..

it was blown, gave to local shop, they determined both coils blown... how is that possible it was powered by a JL 1000/1 and it was refinished to brand new,,, it lasted about 13 months... wtf

ya the same thing happened to my hdc3 after 14 months lol... as far as i know i was just jamming too hard the day before and i didnt know the coil was blown until the next day when the woofer randomly started blasting uncontrollably.... coil is blown but all u can do is recone it
