Sub matching for my Amp

So I got a really good deal on a ps1-5500d. I'd like to match two 12"s to it. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to car audio and I'm having trouble figuring out what would be best.

Vehicle: 1986 Mercedes 300SDL

Front: 5.25" CDT components

Rear: 6.5" coax (haven't purchased yet)

HU: Alpine ida-x100,

Budget: $300 for both subs

Thoughts: Alpine Type R, ED e3 or e5, IDQ v2 (any other suggestions)

I'm going to build a box for it. Since it will be the first box I've ever built, it's going to be a simple sealed job. I'm more of an SQ kind of guy. I never crank my stereo. I feel like the amp is overkill for what I want to do. Can I shop based on what I think would sound good and just turn the gains way down? I can't see myself buying subs that need 2000 watts.

Also, I can't figure out whether I should be looking at 4 ohm or 2 ohm drivers. I've read tons on the subject, but I can't find an answer. I think my amp could handle either one, so what would be best? Is lower impedence always better if the amp can handle it?

If you want 10s or 12s that need a small enclosure, efficient, sound VERY good, and are very responsive, check out the hertz HX series line. They are incredible for the price and sound amazing.. They look pretty **** sexy too.

I've heard good things about Hertz. The problem I have with them is distribution. You can't find them anywhere. It's always, "I know a guy who knows a guy who will sell them to you if you email him." I'd rather go with a brand that I can purchase through a reputable online retailer so that if I have a problem, they can be returned easily.

That's really not appreciated. I don't think this is what forums are for. I ask several questions. You don't answer any of my questions but instead try to sell me something without mentioning the fact that you would profit from it.

I don't know what ohm load your amp can handle so I can't suggest which subs to go with.. Find out what ohm load it can handle and match the subs accordingly... Thats all it takes buddy... Don't take it personal... I have 2 subs I need to sell that sound like they fit your bill so I suggested them. Nothing more. Relax.

Another sub selection that is popular on here is the FI Q, the SI mag, etc for SQ purposes. Check them out, they are quite impressive.

IMO , i have no objection to Italian made stuff . Hertz probably sound new to you but i'm using their products, and I can't believe in my ears how good their speakers sound. A friend of mine set these up with an audison 5.1k running 1000W @ 2ohm and this thing blow me away with two 10inch . I use a single 12" on a 5.1k on 750W and it sounds pretty good. With two of these 10" its madness street beat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

Each of these 10" keeps up the beat really fast so it's aint regular typeR crap u got from ebay.

No. I have 2 that I previously wanted to install into my vehicle but I went and got whats in my sig now which is the Morel Ultimo 12" so I am looking to get from under these... If you dont know, LOOK AROUND! everyone has that shit in their sig because there are many scammers on this site. Anyway, I am not interested in selling you my subs. How the hell do I know your not a scammer trying to take my shit. I was just making a friendly suggestion to subs that I have and you made it personal. Do whatever you like, its your car.

I don't see anywhere where Viet was suggesting you buy HIS stuff, he was simply suggesting a product. I've been running Hertz products for a year now and they are a really good company with solid products. Not once did I have issues with their stuff.

If so, you're pretty ignorant. Nowhere did Viet say, "buy my subs, they rock!" He simply suggested a good sub in your price range to the best he could. You just need to get off your high horse.

If you going to have that kind of attitude you should Check out Sony Xplode and Dual. I promise you I dont have any to sell you.

It would have bothered me less if he would have said "I have some subs for sale that you might like."

I don't come to forums to buy stuff. I come to ask questions and answer questions.
