sub making weird noise?

one of my subs makes a weird noise when turned up over 12 out of 30 for volume... which means im not turning it that loud before it makes the noise. Its more of a flapping/ thwapping noise, Its hard to describe but I can also see the sub moving in aand out more than it should. Just wondering if it might be blown or what could be wrong with it. Tried searching but i couldnt find anything about it. thanks for any help/

could be in to big of a box.

sometimes and low volume they fwap around. trust me i know.

its not on low volume when it makes the noise... and its only one of the two subls that makes the noise so i dont think its the box

or maybe it is a dual 2ohm speaker wired to 4ohm and one coil died...now the amp us putting way too much power to it

i bought the amp and subs and box together. The box was alreasdy wired so I just left it how it was. In the box theres the + and - wires for each sub but leading into the box theres just the one + and - wire so somehow the wire splits into two.... but i have no clue how lol

ive already done that, the four wires inside the box are taped up at the base so i cant see how theyre connected but ive never really tried

alright...i have a possible answer for ya....if they are in a common enclosure, you have blown one sub, and the other is working it's @$$ off....get a dmm and test the coil on each sub

remove the sub from enclosure, remove all wiring, then find the resistance of the coil +to+ and -to-, repeat

if the sub is a 4ohm you should get a 4 on the meter...if you don't get close to a 4, ie way over or -- then the sub is shot...or plug each seperately into the amp to see if they work

oh ok ill try that.. if the sub is done for do you think it would be worth it to just get two new ones ( diff kind) or just buy a new one of the 8000. This is like the third thing thats gone wrong witht them

get new subs(plural) and sell the other 8000
