So I have a old infinity basslink with a blown amp that i'd like to repurpose into a "free" low profile setup utilizing the old driver and also the passive radiator since i really enjoyed the sound. I calculated that the inside of the old infinity enclosure was to be about .45 cubic ft. I plan to build a box that is 24.5x11x4.74 using 3/4 MDF (scraps that i had left over from another project). The biggest problem i am having is the fact that the sub needs about 4.7" of underside mounting depth.
Now i apologize if this is a really stupid idea and i know most of you will say to just buy a slim mount sub, but what are your thoughts about cutting a hole on the opposite side of the box so that magnet can now sit out of the box and then siliconing the magnet to create the seal around the edges of the box?
