I just installed a cd player, amp, and subwoofer in my Ranger. I have done plenty of installs without one problem, until now.
The sub hits fine at low volumes, once I hit a higher volume the sub will start hitting rapidly(nonstop), even if I turn the volume all the way down it wont stop. The only way I can get it to stop is by pulling the RCA's out of the amp or turning the amp gain knob down 1/4 turn (down to half). I had a different cd player in the truck last week and different sub, same amp. The amp acted fine on my other sub, but was wired up 4 ohm so it never reached 300w like it is hitting now.
Where do I need to start on diagnosing this?
Headunit was used, amp was used, sub is brand new.
Also wires are nowhere near touching, and the amp is 300RMS at 2 Ohm and the sub is 300RMS.
