Sub for HT??

I have 500 rms at 4 ohms from my home theater amp and i am looking for a very efficient, clean 12" sub to use with it. I have rl-p's which are said to be good in HT applications but mine are d4. I was looking at the Sa12 but not sure if 500 will be enough for it. Give me some input. More than likely I will put it in a sealed box but not set on it.

kinda side note... not to hijack.. how can i figure out where to put my 2 subs so they aren't so peaky and they don't cancel? i fux with the phase and i think i got them as close as i know how. sounds way better in my closet than my bedroom though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

HAHA I was just looking into these. I saw them in another thread and looked them up. What size box would they need? I want to stay decently small like around 2 cubes. This sub is on my list though. I was looking at the MK iii's i think though.
Read the reviews on them, there's a ton of people who stated what size enclosure they built. I believe the High Fidelity version needs a larger box then the High Output so if that's a factor I'd go with the HO version. They would really shine in a ported box but you could still run it sealed in a box the size your thinking.

Crawl test... Put the sub where you sit, then crawl around on the floor and find where its the loudest. Then put the sub there. SPL meter will speed this up but not entirely necessary. Stick it in a corner (boundary gain) if you are looking for more output. This is all very generic without getting into bass traps, and acoustic treatments, etc.

I'm running an idmax 12 in a transmission line tuned to 20hz off a Dayton 240watt plate amp. It sounds good on music and movies. I've also ran this sub sealed in 2.3cu/ft and it was modest, nothing impressive.
