Sub Excursion, space requirements......

yikes... my initial install in the audi was my two type-x's which were in a really deep box, which only had an inch or so from the rear tailgate, and they rattled the HELL out of the tailgate, i'd deaden your trunk.

and i've heard you're supposed to have the width of the port between the rear of the car and the box.

Seems like it wouldn't always be true for a port that big, since the air velocity will no doubt be very slow, but that's just what i've read.

 
your best bet would be to face them forward, and seal off the trunk around the face of the box the best you can.

loss of output when facing forward is from the backwave bouncing off the back of the car, and then reversing phase

 
i have to aggree face them to the back of the seats. youll need the ports width in distance from where ever panel is in front of it as a minimum. if not performance is being limited. and not sound the way the enclosure was design to sound like. it will still sound good. but not to its best.
