Sub Excursion, space requirements......

Ill be givin my type r's about 850watts of clean power each, and i have a box now that may be too big. I think the subs will cause excursion that will make them smack against my trunk lid. I haven't got my amp yet so i can't see, but i only have TWO INCHES between my trunk lid and box. Pics below

I was thinking of going with something like this, the same box, but only 4 cubes and 50 inches of port area , the major differnce is this one is 6" shorter in depth.

Opinions? I was also thinking of firing them into my seats (seats would be down) but I don't know if there is enough room for the port's air to circulate the trunk

You should be cool man

Just make sure you have your box secured so it can't move

Only way to really know is to try it

Its like being in a room with a closed door, you can stand around talking about how it may be locked, or just go up and turn the knob, nah mean

I doubt a type R is going to get 2 full inches of excursion, i believe .79 is 19 mm, type R's only have about 18mm of excursion

I've fought with boxes for 30 min to get to fit

although that involved taking backseats out and what not

the box is pretty heavy, but would you recommend bolting it down? i'd assume that would be the best way to secure it

if i were you i wouldnt only secure it but i would also remove that little bit of plastic at the back of ure trunk... the thing i dont think anyone thot about when they said that it would be ok is that ure subs arent gonna be flush mounted so it acutally sits away from the box a bit prolly like a half inch to an inch... so i would bolt it down as far back as it will go and give em plenty of breathin room.... BTW POST 700

so why not just turn it around and face the forward since the box is so big?
