Sub choices, again.

Im looking at about 2-2.5 cu ft of air space tops. And thats raw, no box, no sub displacement air space.

Right now, I have 2 SI mags... I truly doubt that I will be able to squeeze them in there as much as Id like to. So Im gonna be downgrading my subs. Still dont have an amp, will be buying to match the subs. I want good SQ with decent output, probbly somethng between 1000-1200 watts. 10s or 8s would be easier to work with, so really not looking for 12s or some wanging 15s.

I was looking at the IDMax 10s, Rl-Is, Fi Q, RE SE?

Just wondering what yall think would be good subs.

Budget: 400-500 on the subs, really looking to spend under 400 tho... The subs will also probbly be matched up with either Crystal SSCS6 or Rainbow SLC 265 if that helps?

Thanks in advance!

PS: I guess keeping one Mag is always an option too, Im not sure how fond I am of that Idea though..

PSS: I mainly listen to rap.

Ever considered using an isobaric enclosure?

If you really like those subs, you have space for that.

This is a variation of the above enclosure (ported). As long as the woofers are mechanically in phase, it doesn't matter which way they face each other, however this will require a larger enclosure to accomodate the magnet and frame assembly of the outer woofer and is more complex to build.

What in the world is that?

Isobaric

By combining two woofers to act as one, either by mounting them gasket to gasket, or gasket to magnet or magnet to magnet, we create an isobaric system. An isobaric system acts as one speaker, but requires an enclosure volume that is half of what one singular driver would take. The output capability of this system is limited to what a single speaker would be in a cabinet of twice the size of the isobaric system. The reason that an isobaric system requires only half of the enclosure volume is that the Vas is half of the single driver. This is due to having two suspensions on the same diaphragm.

The halving of enclosure size does come at a cost. The isobaric system is 3dB less efficient than that of a single driver in an enclosure of twice the size. This means that to get the same output as one driver, you must double the applied power. Providing that you have enough power, two isobaric systems, which would take up the same amount of space as one single woofer, would have 3dB more output due to the increase in cone area. This can be used to your advantage when standard enclosures will not give enough SPL, by quadrupling the input power and quadrupling the number of drivers, you can attain 6dB more output.

Theres a drawing of what an isobaric design looks like at that link too.

if i was in your place i would reallllyyyyy try to use 1 MAG.

But, if you dont have the room.

Why not try that 10inch IDMAX and do a IB? that will save you alot of room in the trunk. The reason im saying do a IB is couse there is a kid in my school and he has a 350Z and 2 12inch IDMAX in a IB setup and planty of room around the subs.

But again try working with that MAG. it would be a waist to sell or or just keep in your room and not use it. My second choice would be 10inch IDMAX do a IB.

PS: what kind of a car is it???

Didnt want to start a new thread and get flamed, figured Id just use this one.

I think Ive narrowed it down to either Fi Q, RE SE, or possibly RE SX Hybrid.

Which of those would yall choose? Im personally leaning towards the Q. But I want a little more input first. Yes, the mag is still an option, but I still see it as too expensive of an option. I feel the extra 150-200 dollars could go to an amp, comps, head unit, carputer, and so forth.

MB Quart, do you think they are up in there?
