Sub brands + "simple" question

Hi guys, i'm noob.

Need a sub.

1) enclosed, preferable bass reflex

2) 4 ohm

3) 400-500 watts RMS

4) Want clean base, quality over quantity . I like dubstep (sue me LoL)

At the moment i have Hertz EBX 300.5 enclosed sub, it's 450 watts RMS i believe. When i'm in the driver seat, it still punches quit hard (or at least i think so) , but i fear it's dying cause when i get close to the sub, i hear that it rattles inside.

I know you guys hate these "recommend me bla bla", but i feel i have no choice but to ask.

There's too many brands, and too many contradicting opinions.

Brands available in my country :

-Alpine

-Rockford Fosgate

-JL audio

-Hertz (but not in obundance)

-Kicker (obviously, seems like i get them thrown at me whenever i ask, are they really that good? The name alone puts me off bigtime personally )

Here's a copy and paste list it's easier :

Excalibur(1)

Renegade(3)

Lightning Audio(2)

ESX(7)

Autotek(6)

Helix(5)

Clarion(1)

Hifonics(43)

Crunch(20)

MB Quart(2)

Soundstream(5)

MTX(17)

Rockford Fosgate(20)

KICKER(33)

Alpine(4)

Polk Audio(7)

JL Audio(14)

JBL(12)

Ground Zero(36)

Infinity(6)

Kenwood(3)

Pioneer(1)

JVC(1)

Rainbow(7)

Signat(1)

So, say i want to spend about 400 to 500 dollars ... for this enclosed subwoofer that is 4 ohm and about 400 to 500 watts RMS.

What would be your recommendation (and please be objective //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You'd think that the prefab enclosures would be the absolute best ?

I mean the subwoofer company, makes this case especially for that subwoofer. I would expect they know the exact specifications.

And i doubt any company wants it's subs to sound like sh^t by putting a crappy enclosure around it ?

If i were an audio company i'd make damned sure to get the best out of my product.

Anyway, do you mean i should look into closed boxes ?

p.s: I want to buy the new subwoofer with the box that comes with it. Not put the sub in my current box.

The only brand I would personally buy with a prefab box are JL Audio, I know they take a lot of time making sure their boxes sound good.

That's if I HAD to use the prefab box... I'd still build my own box for any subwoofer I buy.

If I was forced to pick a preloaded subwoofer from one of those brands I would buy from JL, Infinity or Polk I guess depending on each brands individual offerings. JBL and Infinity are both made by Harman Kardon so I would think have decent sound quality. I suspect JL Audio might be the best of the bunch despite being a bit overpriced imo.

Not familiar with all of those brands..
