Sub/Amp Matching Advice

Hey guys this will be my first system setup and I wanted to run it by you guys to make sure I'm doing this right.. any input appreciated. I'm looking at the IDQ12 D2 V.4 and running it off a Soundstream T5.2500DL.

The IDQs can take an RMS of 750 and the Soundstream can power that at 1 ohm. Would this be a nice matchup? I really don't want to damage anything. Under soundstreams spec it states that the total peak power is 2500 watts and I know the IDQ can only take 1500 watts. Is this peak power for all the channels combined or can it hit 2500 watts peak on the sub and possibly damage it?

I haven't picked out front/rear speakers yet for the 5 channel cause I'm not sure if I'd want to bridge them just on the front or do all four.

I've been doing quite a bit research lately and would rather not spend upwards of $250 on an AMP.

Thanks for your time!!

I kinda agree if you don't have amp yet I wouldn't get that even autotek amps have better reviews than many st amps.. my sub is fairly loud and my mids are just ran off factory hu and it's fine,, get sub/ amp if highs ain't good u can always just add cheap tweets or small amp on front speakers. I don't care about rear fill speakers so I'd run the power to front speakers (get good speakers if u bridging to them ask about those on later thread) just run rears on hu.. look at these amps i'll be editing post to add links.. this Rockford has amazing reviews https://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-200-Watt-1-Channel-Amplifier/dp/B004T0YAMG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488049226&sr=8-2&keywords=rockford+mono+amp http://www.caraudiobargain.com/new-cab-1600-1-amplifier/

So you guys are pretty much saying get a single channel amp just for the sub? I was thinking of getting a 5 channel for all the speaker and was looking to upgrade my component speakers to a nice set.

What about a 3 channel for the sub and both forward speakers? This is my first setup and I really appreciate the advice guys.

75 watts per channel on doors can get pretty loud and should be sufficient matching with a single 12 sub. I personally prefer running sub and doors separately on different amps. This leaves for easier upgrades in the future. Also I know many people rather have the doors on a class ab amp and the sub on a class d amplifier but that once again is all a matter of opinion and preference. All and all though this amp should suffice for what you need and will match well with your sub as far as power requirements are concerned.

if u want 5 channel that's fine u just end up with less power to sub that way is most cases, and if u decide to just amp front speakers u could get big 4 channel and bridge rear 2 channels to sub but most comp sets don't need tons of power so u can get bigger sub amp and smaller 2 channel for fronts (or 4channel if u want to power rears) I have 500 watts on my ported sub factory power to all my cheap coax speakers and my mids and highs are more than loud enough so if u get 500-1200rms to sub and a clean 75x2 amp to decent front speakers it'll be good.. I had 75x4 Memphis amp on mids in last car dude they were loud I had it faded just to front speakers anyway..

Also to address your 2500 watt peak concern, that is total output across all 5 channels and even if it were a mono amp all going to just your sub you don't ever wanna pay attention to the peak power stated, it doesn't really mean anything and the amp will never in reality ever output that number. You should only be concerned with rms ratings.

And I happen to have a 3 ch amp. Plan on doing what you just mentioned. Massive Audio NX3 comp set, not yet bought, and a DC Audio M38 8" sub all in a ext cab s10.

Don't be another John Kuthe....why does everything hvae to be about you??

That 1st statement isn't true....maybe you should do some research before commenting. There's quite a lot of 5 ch amps that have a dedicated sub ch that will do 800-1100 at 1 ohm.

My 3 ch amp will do 120x2 and 800x1 Should be plenty of power., Rather have more than not enough.

Wow thanks so much for the information guys. I think I am going to go with two amps instead of one. A Class D mono then something to power the components. I've been looking at the Hifonics they seem to have pretty good reviews and decent pricing. Cannot wait to get this system going.

Hifonicsis not good. You don't need 2 amps. Class D or A/B don't matter.

Get the Zapco. Enjoy. If one day you want more power then get another one.
