Hi, first post on this forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
Having a bit of engine noise coming from my passenger side tweeter, a cricket-like high pitched noise. The noise seems to change with the vibrations felt in the car, and sometimes will get some alternator whine, but that is intermittent. The cricket noise is always there, and though it's not very loud it is definitely noticeable.
Here's my setup and what I've tried so far to diagnose the problem.
Headunit: Kenwood DDX372BT
Tweeters: LPG 26NA Aluminum Dome
Mids: Dayton Audio RS150-4 6" Reference Woofer 4 Ohm
X-over: Dayton Audio 3500 Hz
Full range amp: PPI pc2150 (old school)
Sub amp: PPI Phantom 1000.1
Wiring: 2x 4 gauge ran on passenger side of car opposite side of RCA and speaker wires, 14 gauge speaker wire ran from trunk and pulled into doors, single RCA running to full range amp, and a small RCA cable from amp outputs, to inputs of sub amp.
So that's where the problem gets weird, when I unplug the RCAs from the sub amp the noise goes away. Could it be working the amp harder since it has to now output a signal to feed the sub amp? Noise also get's worse when i increase the gain on the full range amp. As I'm thinking about this I wonder if running a seperate RCA from the "sub" pre-out on the HU would solve the problem..
Another thing to note: The noise only came about after swapping my subwoofer amp (my other phoenix gold tantrum was starting to crackle like crazy) There was a lot more alternator whine when i first installed it (and was heard in BOTH speakers) until I improved the amplifiers grounds. Now I'm just left with this annoying squeaking noise.
Any help is greatly appreciated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif
