Stupidest thing I heard was a guy telling me to replace my 6.5 pioneer revs with 3 6x9's in each door lmao

im currently trying to build a decent system and was looking at the FI subs and mentioned it to a friend. he said "those look pretty but dont look to be built that good...you need to pick up some audiobahn subs, they win all the competitions and have an 8000k rms sub"
then i mentioned i was going to get a pioneer deck and he came back with "i dont like pioneer decks, they dont let you change any of the equalization settings, its all default"

im new to all this but i spend a lot of time here and that sounds like BS to me...

your freind would be baffled by the p880 with independent l/r 16 band equalization:naughty:

My friend recently got his second system and was bragging about how nice it was. He first said that he was afraid to turn the bass up because it hit so hard. So I obviously ask him about it. Asked what subs, amp, the normal. He got some kenwood amp pushing 350 RMS. He tells me though it's 1800 watt max and what an amp normally put's out is half of the max. I tell him that actually the RMS is what it's really doing and that "max power" is meaningless. He looked at me like I am an idiot and then asked what was the max of my amp? I told him I wasn't sure as it did not matter. He then asked me "How do you not know what it is?" It seemed what I said went through one ear and out the other. I told him I was using 0 awg, and he again looked at me as if I was an idiot. "Why would you use 0 ga, instead of 4?" "Because I am running more power and need the larger wire"

I walked out to his car. And went to sit in his car to listen and he looked at me and said "why are you getting in? why don't you listen from outside?"

I opened the door. Sat in it. And when they hit...of course they didn't at all. I said "sounds nice man." And went to my car. I couldn't put him down too much, I hadn't installed mine until that night. =/

more like something i saw, not somethin said to me. Went to a comp, and somehow, a guy got his Pyle 12" to fit in a prefab kicker l5 box off his crunch amp...guess u had to see it....i guess his mommy never gave him that toy with differnt shapes to see what fits where

Ummm not to be rude.... But who care if it has been asked in the past. I assure you 90 percent of everything posted on here has been asked already if not on here on some forum they are a member of. IF people went solely by this rule there would be NO activity on the forums. This is what keeps the forums posting. Unless it was posted currently within the last few pages what does it matter?really? Just think about any question you have asked before. and do searches on all the forums you are members on.... you would be surprised

Unfortunately I missed it, but at the show last weekend my teammates and I were chilling outside.
During this time, some kid came into the shop and asked what the high score at the show was, which was me with a 150.2. The kid then claims that he hit 192 dB in his mustang (which of course he didn't have with him).

I wish I would have been there, because I would have called him an asshat.

It amazes me how many amazing systems that hit 12365264626db Never seem to be around... I can't count how many times on both hands and feet (that is sad) where somebody or their boy had a louder system than myself but they never could produce it for some reason... Does hate really run that deep in the veins? seems like the louder my system the more people seem to say these things. And in reference to my first comment I guess I called him out a bit late... Shrugs

I saw this at an audio competition once.. haha. The guy yelled at his son later that day for having windows rolled up because "it's not loud enough unless they're rolled down."

I love how my friends who know nothing talk about how they "heard the loudest system ever today" and then I say, "****, what was it?" They NEVER have an answer. kid at my school spent 2000$ on audiobahn sh!t. i paid roughly 800$ for my JL setup... said his system kicked the shit outta mine and that he "cracked his windshield atleast 4x a year because of it." i parked next to him and couldnt hear his system over mine.

Although i will give this kid prob was an idiot. I would be careful talking that much stuff about audiobahn (granted I will say not the best built) but I have embarrassed many of many JL systems with audiobahn. Typically (both installs done correctly) as long as using mid line on up of audiobahn. The audiobahn typically seems to be considerably louder than the JL. BUT JL sounds much better and is designed to sound decent while reproducing bass. Sorry just get tired of everybody dogging audiobahn all the time. I took a guy with 6 12w7's and almost double power at finals back in the day with my 4 junky audiobahn 15's. But as far as spl goes I wouldn't mark them with great marks either. Just they work well for me(well not anymore i am a sell out) now enough of me topic stealing. hmmm Oh great story got the best one ever!!! And sorry about posting so many posts, just kept reading things I wanted to reply to

This guy I work with... I have a purple heart 18.... me: ok........ Him: Yeah it is older, it is illegal to have in the united states and I have one .. Me :yeah, whys that Him : Because it handles so much power and is too loud . Me: so it is illegal because of that and to top it of you have one. Him:yeah I have like 20kw to it in my house.... nice retro but fun to read thread. Dunno if its something in your water or what, but everyone i've met has been generally modest about their system.

Its not so fun to show off your system when ppl with weaker systems admit yours is better. Even the ppl I know with much louder systems dont talk about theirs.

I talked to a guy who said that his system was way louder when he used an external crossover. He joked about how so many people spend way more than him but he is louder because he tweaks his right. I asked what he does and he went on to say that the internal crossover on the amp was ******* too much power.

Apparently the more air there is to pressurize, the louder the subs get...

Um... subs DO get louder in SUV's than trunk cars, dude.
