I went to a car audio booth in the flea market and this one A$$ told me that I could blow out my subs if I underpower it.

that is the main reason why subs get blown. because they get underpowered and the user will crank the gains, clip the amp, and send a distorted signal to the speaker and blows it

I made the box in my avatar for my girl. When showing the system an all a few guys told her that she should've put carpet on the box. She asked why an they said cause its makes it louder an improves the sound of the sub.
Also another time i was talking to someone an he said his L7 is so loud that it made the cd player skip from the guy he bought it from.

CD players can skip...

Okay this is a good one. I went to Quality Auto Sound here in Aurora, CO.. I talked to the manager about getting a part time job there just for supplimental income. Well I decided to ask him a few questions regarding the RF 3Sixty.2 poster that he had hanging up. I asked do you have them in stock? He says no...most people don't have enough money to keep them in stock. ( I think its because he fails to educate his clientele) Well anyway, I told him I'm trying to decide if I should get the RF 3Sixty.2 or splurge the extra money for the Zapco DSP6. He says and I quote..."Zapco!....Well if they're anything like their amps, I'd stick with Rockford."

I gave him the same look that is in my avatar.

Well, here is mine. I have a buddy whos cousin is from Chicago. Okay, we were all talking about my system in my blazer and how they were saying it hit really hard and loud. I was like ya ya and so we got talking about my subs and was explaining to him the specs of my subs, he said, " ya but they aren't as loud as my buddies JL7 Squares, he has 3 15s. Now everytime I see the guy thats what comes to mind first and just laugh inside at him.

at my last local comp, 3 guys come by my car and see my hdc3, and are like what is that???? So I proceed to tell them and they are like **** that must be loud (took 2nd loudest vehicle at show, and loudest car at show)...... and then they caught a w7 out of the corner of their eye, and was like "thats what you need.....I heard it was the loudest sub made"

I was like cool..... great overall sub but doesnt meter too good, but a quality woofer

told a guy my setup, and he looked in my backseat and saw the type x. he asks "how much you got pushing it?"

me- "1500w"

him- "wow"

me- "walk back here i'll show you my setup..." then open trunk. "thats an mtx 1501 pushing it"

him- "oh, thats why you need 1500w, because those mtx's need that much"

About 1 1/2 years ago I went to my local Car Toys to have my old sd2.5's wired to 1 ohm (didnt have ANY tools or wire at the time). They argued with me saying that they would not do it for me and that they would only wire them to 4 ohms cause I will mess up my amp (keep in mind its 1 ohm stable). The salesman proceeds to go get the installer and some more arguing ensues. The installer proceeds to tell me that they stopped making 1 ohm stable amps 2 years ago. I laughed and said, I'll take them somewhere else to be wired.

I don't know too much when it comes to audio, only recently decided to start learning. Anyway, I had this guy at school hear my truck and after I get out comes up and asks me what I have in it. I told him just an Infinity 12" in a cheap Best Buy Box with a 310 watt Profile am and and 4 Infinity 6x8's in the doors with some cheap 4x100 amp from frys, (Nothing great I know). Anyway, he starts talking about how he doesn't need to get a sub because he has nice door speakers subs in it already and he can't figure out when mine sounds better. I tried to explain to him that theres a difference between woofers and sub's but he never did believe me. He kept saying "nah dude, woofer actually is short for subwoofer, so is sub."

Woofer can be used as an abbreviation for subwoofer, but it is also commonly used for door/component speakers.
