Ported is better than sealed, if you want good output. But pre-fab ported enclosures are some of the worst things in the entire car audio business. They are very poorly built, not designed well for the subwoofer or the car or your music tastes, and typically tuned very high, which makes them sound like crap. If you want to run ported, you need a custom box built. End of discussion. If you don't want to put out the money for a custom ported box, you must run sealed.just wondering why i would need a custom box? I thought ported boxes were better than sealed..?
This. two of the E-series sundowns on that Solid Audio amp I recommended, in a ported box. It'd be pretty beast. I always forget about Sundown's lower level subs. Sundown E series or some Dcons.Get 2 of the Sundown Audio subs the 300watt ratted ones.. Get a decent Amp... MB Quartz or something like that.. might spend 300-400$ on that total.. then build a box for around 50-60$... and why not buy used?
Clearly not...Have you looked at all the good stuff people have recommended?
do you have the DCON's ?i would do two ssa dcon 12 d4 and an ia 5.1 the amp is rated for 450 at 1 ohm but has been clamped in the 6-700w range and its small throw in a custom box tuned around 32hz and you will be happy as well as decently loud
this adds up to right over 500 minus the box but i have installed this a few times in various cars and its made me happy customers every time
yes but most are quite out of my range. That 1200 watt amp looked decent for the price, but like I said I am looking for best bang for the buck. Nothing fancy and outrageous.Have you looked at all the good stuff people have recommended?
Then dont look at mainstream crap cause all your going to get is junk for your budget.yes but most are quite out of my range. That 1200 watt amp looked decent for the price, but like I said I am looking for best bang for the buck. Nothing fancy and outrageous.
You need to look at the Sundown Audio E Series subs.. underrated and will play loud... same as the Skar Audio IVX subs underrated and will get decently loud...yes but most are quite out of my range. That 1200 watt amp looked decent for the price, but like I said I am looking for best bang for the buck. Nothing fancy and outrageous.
Yea, but unless you want to replace it a year or 2 later, you need to spend a few more dollars. The Solid Audio amp I linked is $95 + shipping. It puts out a minimum of 600w, probably closer to 800. And on a pair of the lower level woofers we've linked, in a ported box, it'll pound. That amp, plus a couple subs gives you a total around $350. Leaving you $150 to get a proper enclosure built for them.yes but most are quite out of my range. That 1200 watt amp looked decent for the price, but like I said I am looking for best bang for the buck. Nothing fancy and outrageous.
It's not very good but it will work. Just like a rubicon or BRZ. They will work but spend a bit more and performance will take a big jump.this gets confusing when people say the onyx amp isnt very good, and then it gets reccomended to go with sundown subs..?
Yes, the same ones we've linked. I don't think you have enough space to give up for a pair of 12's ported though, unless you are willing to give up the majority of your trunk. Otherwise, look for two 10s.Sundown Audio E12 D2
are those the subs u r talking about
on them E series I would get that Solid Audio Amp... Very good amps and under rated.. not well known but they are good amps.. Just like Vibe Amps if you get the Mid/high level onesalright. yea i will have to measure my trunk out and everything. Whether I get 12s or 10s though...they are the same wattage rms correct?
And would that aq1200d work with that combo?
