SQ Sub, 900 watts RMS???

My buddy is wanting a substage geared toward SQ, and we had been thinking an Alpine Type-R 12", but then decided against it because it is not the greatest SQ sub, its more SPL.

Anyway, what we are looking for is a 12" sub that will work in an SQ setup that fits the following:

12" SQ Sub

Amp is 900 watts RMS at 2 ohm, so must be single 2ohm or Dual 4

priced around $150 or so

Not sure if we should go sealed or ported, either. If ported it will be tuned low, like 30hz or even lower. This is going into the back of a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

after break in will the RSD take a full 900 watts?

the amp is 600 watts RMS @ 4ohm, 900 @ 2ohm, 1200 @ 1 ohm

also, I didn't think an Fi-Q qould be had for about $150

Yes, and RSd12 will take that much, as long as it's clean power and you know what you're doing.

well we will be sure to keep the gains set properly, and its a power acoustic amp, which I've heard are pretty clean, so we should be good

It'll sound great in around 1.0 to 1.2cf sealed.

thanks for the advice, I will take pics of the install and put em up when I get everything going. should be a fun project, we will go to his house for a weekend, get this stuff installed, have a few beers and chill

Try to find a used Q, Icon, or mag.. (mag will be more like 250-300) but the other two are findable for 150~200

You could find a used RE SE 12" for that price range. I loved that sub, it was the very first sub I ever owned and sounded amazing in a 2^3 tuned @ 33hz and only off 600 watts.

It's great for sealed though as well, I had it in a 1^3 box and it sounded pretty good.
