You're going to have to build out the speaker baffle with something, but that looks like a good start.
Also, how did you cover those large open holes? Just putting deadener over them? A better way, if you could fit the pieces in, would be to take 1/8" Lexan panels and cut them to fit...I did something like this for the large holes in my door, CA'ing them to the metal and then deadening over that. Remember, you're trying to make your entire door a giant sealed enclosure, and it needs to be as airtight and acoustically dead as you can get it.
