SQ Build Advice

Here is my SQ build that I have put together, I plan on ordering everything this weekend after I check out some HU's in person.

HU - iDA X305S (I am looking for a iphone friendly HU with easy ipod navigation)

Comp - Alpine SPX-17PRO 6.5"

Amp - Alpine PDX F4 100Wx4

Rears - none

Sub - maybe later

As far as a sub goes, I will probably end up getting that later on. Also, I was wondering what I would need to get everything installed? A basic 8ga. amp installation kit, head unit mounting kit and wire harness? (I will have someone experienced install everything)

Let me know how my setup looks, thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Upgrade the ampkit to at least 4 gauge and that equipment is nice though I believe u can do better than Alpine for the money. I was actually about to put the 305s in my truck before I totaled it. Anyway I loved the iPod integration for that headunit wish I could put one In mynew car

just wondering what your basis for picking those comps are?
there are far better to be had at that price range IMO
I looked on these forums and it seemed like a lot of people had nothing but good things to say about them, please make recommendations. I spent a few hours just looking for comps, so apparently it's not as easy to find the best bang for your buck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Ya, I will get the 4ga. to future proof everything.

i ALWAY ALWAYS tell people, run 0 gauge to the back to a distro block because 9/10 times you will want to upgrade to more power it you will not have to keep changing wires.

plus having more than enough is better than not having enough

I agree but I'm not sure if I want to get a sub in this specific car since I will most likely be getting a new car and moving everything to the new one. And 0 gauge would be overkill for the amount of power I will ever want in this car if I were to get a sub.

Also, I checked out your recommendations "winkychevelle" and all I could really find were the hertz and image dynamics. Ctx65cs for $80 less. Not really sure if I want to spend over $400 on comps but the ctx65 looks like a great deal, thoughts?

The ctx65 is on sale for $189 on woofersetc, now I'm really thinking it will be a great buy. I would love to hear some feedback from anyone who owns these, thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I can't make up my mind... Now I'm thinking Hertz hsk165 $430 vs Image Dynamics CXS62 $360

you also dont have to buy everything new, i put my own set of comps together out of some mpyre 65mms that i got off ebay and a set of old school fanatic q series tweets

ive got 180 in them shipped, so just look around in the classifieds or put up a wtb thread and see what you come up with.

Theres are 100s of ppl on here who run or have run the ID ctx65cs set (me included) and they are by far the best bang for the buck IMO and alot of other ppls opinions too. Great sound quality from mids and tweets and very underrated. I ran 175rms to each side for a couple years and never had a problem. Sounds better then everyone of my friends components that spent 400++

My 2 cents

if your going for SQ going without a sub won't get you there at all. you'll be missing a full spectrum of frequency. and the vehicle won't sound "complete" at all. since you do plan on adding a sub later how about t his setup

the deck you said 230

comp ctx65cs 190 CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System

amp 5 channel i5800 420 i5800 - Image Dynamics 5-Channel 760 Watt i-Series Amplifier

amp kit 45

that's 885. you could bridge the amp for the front speakers giving them 180 watts and you'll have that fifth channel for when you do add a sub later. you won't need to buy another amp.

and what car?

It's a 97 Honda Civic LX

I already made the order but the 5 channel amp would have been a good idea, oh well though. If I don't like the sound without a sub I will most likely get a box built and order a sub and amp.
