Speaker wire...need help choosing right gauge

Hey...got a 1500 watt rms set up for voice speakers...I have 14 gauge speaker wire...but I feel like I should go down to 12 or 10...as it will be carrying a lot of power...

Thoughts or advice?

These will be short runs of wire FYI...

Maybe 3-5 feet at most

Wire is determined by current and length. Not rms power.

Example a 3500 watt good mono can push 55 amps of current, 8awg would work for it up to 20 feet.

Ok so a buddy of mine told me that thicker gauge speaker wire will run the risk of interference noise...how true is that?

Playing devils advocate here...then why in pro audio do they have balanced and unbalanced wires?

"Despite popular belief, this is not necessary for noise rejection. As long as the impedances are balanced, noise will couple equally into the two wires (and be rejected by a differential amplifier), regardless of the signal that is present on them."
