Long time reader, first time post...

Question - What is the best speaker sizes and locations to achieve the best 5.1 sound quality in a 2002 F150 supercrew cab? I'm not interested in arguing what brands are best, just the size and location. I listen to mosty DVD's but like to put in some heavy metal/pop once in awhile.

Currently, I'm running an Alpine IVA-D300 head unit connected to stock speakers. I'm going to add a dolby digital sound processor (probably Alpine PXA-H701) so I'm looking to upgrade the speakers as well. The PXA-H701 has outputs for: 1 center, 2 fronts, 1 rear, and 1 subwoofer. All outputs can be controlled separately (volume, LPF, HPF, time correction, ect).

I already have a Rockford Fosgate bd1000.1 mono applifier, Rockford Fosgate Power 800.4 four channel applifier, two JL Audio 12w3v2-d2's, and four Inifinity 6.5" Kappa coaxials. Although I already have these components (from old system in my boat), they don't all have to be used in the truck. I'll probably use one set of Kappa's for my rear doors?

I'm planning on removing the "60" section of the back bench and replacing it with another "40" section (equals bucket seats in back). This should leave enough space for subs in the back (or anything else you can think of). Other than that, nothing else has already been planned.

To get 5.1 dolby digital, I'll have to get (at a minimum), one more amp. I can use my bd1000.1 to run the sub(s), my 800.4 to run one pair of fronts and the rears. I'm still left with nothing to run my center channel. Because of that, I was thinking about getting another 4 channel amp and using it to run the center channel and an extra pair of fronts (PXA-H701 processor can control two separate front pairs).

However, I'm worried having 4 mid/high speakers in the front may be too much? That got me going down the road of putting a single mid bass driver (6-8") in the door and 5.25" components in the kickpanels?

Sometimes I think putting components in the front doors (no kickpanels) will probably sound as good as anything?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for all your help!
