Speaker Baffles... Worth a try?

maybe they would improve response on some drivers but most are I.B. they will definetly keep water/dirt out but they are also an enclosure as well. seems like a cheap fix for a bigger problem to me.

 
I use them in my doors to keep water off the driver,I just cut out the back

Use them to protect the speaker and just cut the back and/or bottom out of them.

 
3 inches of something that only stays hard half the time isn't very practical anyway
