Speaker and power wire on same side?

Will this cause any interference? I'm using some 14 gauge speaker wire from walmart and some Knu KCA 1/0, they will both run down the left side for awhile until I get three more runs of KCA through the center of the car, will this cause any interference? This is my first speaker amp install so I've never encountered this before.

Yup. While it's good practice to avoid putting them on the same side, it's not detrimental. I don't have crazy high quality RCA's or speaker wire (though better than average) and I have no noise caused by having the power there along with them. The EMI picked up by the speaker wire from the power wire is going to be inaudible at best.

It's more of a concern when your talking about RCA's because that signal is still very small and any noise that gets in will be amplified by the amplifier. Since your speaker wire is carrying a larger voltage signal and has already been amplified the chance you'll get any audible EMI noise is pretty much none. You'd have to have some dirty ass power going through that cable for that to happen.

lol I find it so funny reading things like this... I run all my cables together always have for the last 15 years of installs. Never had noise with average and above twisted pairs RCAs. Think about it - your chassis is power cable to, no different than your positive...

You really shouldn't speak unless you know what your talking about. The charge density in the chassis is much less because of it's greater cross sectional area so the possibility of a concentrated EMI source is negligible. The main sources of noise on the 12V line are usually the alternator or engine electrical system (i.e. the spark plugs). It's possible for either of them to induce noise into your main power line which can then radiate to your RCA cables. Will this happen in every setup all the time? No. Is it possible? Definitely. Just because you have a handful of setups that haven't experienced EMI noise doesn't mean it doesn't exist. We tell people not to run them on the same side to prevent possible problems, not because we like making their installs more difficult.

Bubbagumper is right.... An amplifier is similar to a computer - garbage in, garbage out.

If an amplifier is designed to take a 0.5-6v input and amplify it to a 30-100V+ output.....That same noise can be amplified 25+ times higher than what it was originally. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Usually appears as alternator whine, ignition buzz (sounds like a motorcycle), "Pop" while turning on, or random clicks/pops, especially when no music is playing.

The guy is asking about Wal-Mart cables and you give him electrical theory? Hahaha!! What about the Sparcomatic amps causing the noise? I guess everyone assumes that MONSONwarrior will be installing quality gear. "Clean your grounds" and roll with it. Most modern amps don’t have noise.

Did your 9 post having arse even read his sig? Obviously its not wal mart gear you lame.

I'm talking more about his setup than his wal mart wire.
