Soundqubed vs Hifonics ?

Here's one of his posts from another forum.

Fact, where? Do you even know if a 85°c part is bad in that design? Did he prove the supply causes so much ripple that the cap heats up past it's thermal level. Did he provide facts that the 105°c caps are truly better up to 105°c? The answer is no, he did nothing to prove one amp is better.

Pull the parts and verify both act the same in a test circuit.

How many caps have I replaced on hifonics, a bunch. How many caps have I replaced on the AQ2200, none!

How many traces were burned open when a FET fails on AQ, none. How many on hifonics, a lot.

Do I like the hifonics amps for what they cost, sure. Treat them good and they will survive.

Its hard to believe that no caps, traces, or FET's have ever been replaced in AQ amps.. really?

The Hifonics/Soundqubed thread on CACO is way longer than this one. I didn't even bother reading it

He didn't say they've never been replaced in Aq amps.

He said he's never had to replace them on the Aq amps he has repaired.

Yeah and I think they have their place don't get me wrong. For people who can't afford mid to high end products Hifonics is fine. Don't sit there and blow smoke up everyone's ***** though and say they are the same. Like saying Sizzler and Chili's is the same because they both use meat lol.

I was surprised by the component comparison. They are in fact extremely similar electrically.

I'm GUESSING the SQ has better input components, as that was not part of the presentation.

Overall they're probably a lot closer to identical than the SQ fans would ever be willing to admit.

Maybe the SQ got assembled by 12 y/o chinese kids and the HF only got 9-10 yr old treatment -- that's probably worth something.

One big advantage I noticed is the SQ rca connections being threaded and individually secured with a nut directly to the case. That is a much better design (and longer assy time) than the cheap (typical) one screw holding 4 rca's on the HF.

Well one obvious difference is the fact a Hifonics won't clamp rated hell even what it does clamped at high level is clipped and SQ does + some and has a more stable signal longer but /shrug other than that I guess they are the same o_O lol

Did you perform these tests yourself and can provide evidence?

Both amps are going to sound the exact same to your ear so I'm not sure what the big deal is
this not until someone does a DIRECT swap from amp to amp and meters it on music, burp, whatever the heck you want. NOT untill i see that and the SQ does more these 2 are almost the same. And i became a SQ nuthugger when i joined this forum never liked hifonics as everyone and there mother runs it here in LA but after seeing this i might just jump on the bandwagon becasue a 200w difference in clean power isnt worth $200 in my eyes.
