Hey guys I have a Soundqubed HDC3.118 and need some help building a box for it. It will be ran off of a FSD Audio 2600 but I plan on only pulling 2000watts @ 1-Ohm from it. I've seen recommendations all over the place for box size, tuning, port area, etc. which is pretty discouraging for me so I built it with pretty modest specs, I think. The box is being built for daily listening/music.

Heres what I have so for:

6.01 Cubic Foot Box (Net)

30.1 Hz Tuning

8" Aero Port (Flares to 12")

8.36 Square Inches Port Area per Cube

Are these good specs for a HDC318? This is my first time designing and building my own box. Any insight you can give is appreciated.

Also I'm going to double baffle but should I sit the subwoofer on top of both baffles or leave one so it's flush around the speaker?

Mostly rap, I listen to a lot of artists like Decaf, DJSNT, etc.

Are those mainly just SPL specs? I think I wanna keep my tuning around 30-32hz as long as it will still sound good.

16 square inches port area would be like 3 6" ports, that seems like a lot. From what I've read that would be more peaky(SPL) and not as musical?

Yes it's more spl.....it's an hdc. 30-32 tuning is not recommended for these drivers at all. I'd go with 5.25-5.5 net @36hz. It will still dig pretty low.

lowest i'd tune is 33hz/34hz, but these subs dig low regardless of tuning. The port area recommendation is for slot ports, aeros would obviously need a lot less. 9-13 sq inches per cube for aero vs 12-16 with slot so just correlate that to eachother.

You can tune wherever on these subs, depends on what you want. I've tuned a 10" one of these to 28 hz before.

If it was me, I'd do 6 cubes ported, tuning at 30-32 hz, 14-16 in^2 per cube slot. You can try 2 6" aeros as well.

It's just another woofer that can be manipulated by the box. Tune where you want it.

The it to a custom air brush guy and tell him what you want. You can always stain, plexiglass windows, and put led lights inside the box. Search...
