Soundqubed HDC3 break in period ? (not very loud currently)

Redo the box man, its not gonna work with the port and sub on opposite sides
^^^^THIS^^^^ Sub facing rear of trunk/car and port,or sub rear Port up through cabin,or rear seat cut out and sealed off with port and sub firing towards front seats.Rebuild box.Built right, and you should not need that Bass knob,or bass boost after setting the hu settings and amp gains. For That 12..Id do 2.6cu ft @32-34 htz in that trunk.

This is not good (he just spend $200 on the box !).

Is the box for sure the culprit ?

yup, normally in the trunk, just have subs and port face one direction towards the rear. IDK why a box with sub and port orientation like his was built in the first place, This is not home theatre audio.
So there's nothing we could possibly do to make this louder than his previous kicker ?
I'm a little confused because his kicker cvx was using the same style port in the probox he was using (sub facing the driver, port facing the wheel). http://www.amazon.com/coated-112SPB-single-Speaker-Enclosure/dp/B00CSDT508/ref=pd_sxp_f_i/188-0578754-4498524

If you can, Clamp test your friend's system and see how much power he's actually getting along with voltage drop numbers, if the power is not the problem then its the enclosure design. Before anything, SET HIS GAINS RIGHT. SHOP gain settings means nothing nowadays.

I didnt get any louder doing all my electrical upgrades, but i was loud for waaaay longer. On weak electricals, output does drop drastically when amps heat up and you can audibly hear it. However, I'm saying op has a box/gain/head unit setting issue.
I got audibly louder bass after doing my big 3

lol.my home theater has sub and port forward with both enclosures.does a fine job

Either can work, however the sub foward while the port first to the rear loading off a wall/corner yields very good results for home audio when you need to dig really low for movies. Both ways work but many hifi designs use the sub forward port back for home audio.

vibrates the wall too much.im using a pro audio amp pushing 2000 watts with two 12 d6's @ 1ohm running off a yamaha 5.1 receiver with 4v subwoofer preout.it has no problems getting low trust me.

yeah That positioning would help if you have a solid wall instead of a normal wall lol. If you think car audio rattle is horrible, home audio rattle is just as bad. I have my 18 downfire ported and sub faced on axis, ***** how you cant turn stuff up without the house falling apart at every waking moment.

Contacted soundqubed and they didn't seem to be concerned with the box specs I gave them (they said no way a sundown E12 should be getting louder than the hdc3 with this current box).

Going to take it a real professional next week for amp/headunit tuning (they where the only shop out of 4 total that could get my sundown tuned right, it got about 3x louder after they tuned it). Hopefully the same will happen

Bro, WHY DONT YOU JUST SET THE GAINS YOURSELF. Google up how to set gains with a digital multi-meter. Why the fk would you pay someone to do something so simple.

Hell here's how to do it by ear. Head unit 75% volume, sub level max, EQ flat, no bass boost, low pass filter at 80hz. Amp gains and bass boost at 0, Play your heaviest bass song you have, then turn up the gain till the bass does not get any louder and back it off a bit. Viola you are done.....
