Soundqubed HDC3 break in period ? (not very loud currently)

I sold my friend my HDC3 12 and Q1-1200.1 amplifier that where brand new (I'm upgrading my alternator and battery so I sold it to go a different route). No point in running a $250 sub on $900 worth of electrical

He got it hooked up with custom box at 35hz and gains are set professionally.

His 12 inch CVX on 750watts in a crappy probox was a little louder and he's disappointed (he figured a more efficient sub thats twice the weight and 500 more watts all in a proper box would destroy the CVX).

I googled around it i've heard that the HDC3 are super stiff and get louder/lower over time.

Would this break in period (soft parts/suspension loosening up over the next 3-5 weeks) cause a significant gain in decibels ? (any AQ or DD owners who can comment on this ?).

I've seen people online say there getting 10-20 db increase over time while others are hitting 130+ straight from day one.

I feel kinda bad selling him this and it not be as loud as expected (on a good note it sounds great on music, 10x better than his CVX sound quality wise)

your barely tickling that sub for starters.

10-20 db increase? maybe by adding 10 more subs, idk where your getting this info from.

is the box a proper box for the sub, proper port area and all? post specs and pics.

also what is the sub and box in and how is he firing it. possibly cancellation issues?

what is "set gain professionally" lately "professional installers" are some random guy who will take a minimum wage paying job because the real professional would only work for a high pay. also post pics of the adjustment knob side of the amp, i can almost bet it was the "professional" installers fault and somethings wrong there.

I'm having him send me pictures of the port and the amplifier knobs. The installer was a local store (three guys that run it privately) that deal mostly with digital design products/installs.
From memory the box looked to be just under 3 cubic feet. I've seen in person three boxes (all pre-fab) and the port on this box was significantly larger (I'll have him send pictures)

He had the port fired towards the license plate and then moved the port towards the left back tire (it got noticeably louder but still not loud enough).

Gains are messed up. Or box. Or something else.
I'm leaning towards gains. Up untill a few months ago, I had an entry level sundown E12 on a prefab (2cubic feet, probaly tuned around 38-42hz) and it was just as loud as the HDC3 he has currently has (took me four shops to find one that tuned it perfectly)

have him measure the actual outside dimensions of the box and let us know what it is

pic's would help

does he have enough power to run that amp? what vehicle?

mine are breaking in now, so I cant give a good answer. but I can feel mine a lot more than hear them, maybe that's how there are. anyone else agree.

06 Accord with 110amp alternator and die hard platinum battery. No other amplifiers are being used. I'm hoping to have pictures tomorrow (port, box, and amplifier knobs).

Will do
My hdc10 is loud as f** from the get. 2 cubes net with 20" of port per. Tuned to 35. Feeding it ~2k@1ohm.
Thats how I thought this should of been (loud from the get go). My E12 and his cvx on 750 watts with small prefab boxes (low port) are performing as well as a HDC3 with custom box and almost 500 more watts (I'm leaning towards the amplifier/head unit not being tuned right, basically a rush job)

You cannot judge soundqubed subs on price that sub will perform as well as a sub a couple hundred dollars more. As for the cost of upgrading electrical .. Yea it's expensive if you do it right. The point of upgrading it is not to starve your amps not how much your subs cost. I in fact just installed 3 hds3 12s in an 8cube net box today at 35hz. It's loud and my volts are not even dropping which is how I'm gauging how I'm breaking them in. I'm running two skar SK 1500d strapped. If the amps are barely working than the subs aren't either. I have been on the phone with zac from SQ a lot this past week and from what I understand the subs must be broken in and over time will play louder and lower. I think your friends problem is something different than the sub itself. I would 1st clamp test his amp and see what it's putting out. Those hdc's take a lot of power that's the reason why I went with the hds's.

Ill bet its the box.Ill also put money on it that the ELD bypass hasnt been done on that Hondas electrical system either??? Im in a 99 CRV for my daily witha pair of SQ HDS310s in 4cuft @32htz with Big3 two Orileys AGM batts and a stock 110 alt with ELD Bypass, and She Slamms! Got be the box and deff doesnt seem like you have enough power for supply and demand with One batt and stock electrical???That altand Stock electrical cant handle a 1ohm load, much less a 2 ohm without electrical upgrades as Ive done running @2hms,But It did seem about 4 weeks to notice a bit in sound and output in the subs, but they are still Stiff as Hell today.I think that you guys just have everything done wrong from Supply and Demand to wrong enclosure to setup in the vehicle. You just cant throw one system from one vehicle into another expecting it to sound BETTER than what it was. Thats like taking a performance tire from a VETTE and slapping it on a YUGO???WTF is wrong with people today??

I just don't get the whole issue with electrical upgrades these days. Most people treat it like it's an option, or just an afterthought. It SHOULD be the 1 st thing you do BEFORE you even start an install.

I actually refused to sell an amp to a guy yesterday, because he thought that he could run 2000+ rms on completely stock electrical system with a 2yr old walmart battery....

I didnt expect something so dumb to come from a member that im assuming has alot of knowledge in this aspect since youve been around so long... How can his elecrical not handle a 1ohm load? Hes only running a 1200. Im running a 1200 and a 4-90, on stock electrical, 4 gauge and no big three and i dont dip belpw 13.5 on my heaviest bass hits.
