sound dampening project

so i removed all of the door panels and trunk panels in my vehicle on sunday. monday i received the packages from Second Skin. The product is really nice, especially the luxury liner pro and the cld tiles. i decided to dampen the whole vehicle starting with the doors and trunk. i will be removing all of the interior of the vehicle except the dash for the project.

i purchased the spectrum spray, the alpha damp, luxury liner (for tighter spaces), luxury liner pro, and adhesive.

monday night i went to my friends garage and we sprayed all 4 doors and the trunk with 2 coats of the spectrum product. i am going to do one more coat in the trunk and on the rear doors, i have to get the front doors finished for the installation of the hertz MLK2TW's prior to my trip to chicago for thanksgiving. spectrum was kind of a pain to get the sprayer set up right to spray properly however, once working properly it worked ok. i covered as much area as possible, i will need to do some touch up on the trunk with a brush and i still have to do the trunk lid.

this weekend i start putting the cld tiles and luxury liner in the driver doors, spray a 3rd coat in the trunk and on the rear doors.

i will take some pictures tomorrow when i go back to his garage to continue the project.

ok so here are some photos i took last night.

this is of the drivers side door. you can see the spectrum sprayed on and if you look to the bottom right, you can see i started the CLD tiles.

the car is a 2001 nissan maxima SE

so i started cutting and laying the MLV and CCF i.e. the second skin product Luxury Liner Pro. this stuff is a PITA to cut to fit. i had to take multiple measurements for areas that had slope in the door to accommadate the MLV. it took me about an hour to cut the passenger side door and about 25 minutes to install once cut.

this is another photo of the drivers door with spectrum sprayed on.

here is a photo of the cuts i had to make for the passenger side door. notice on the bottom left that i did purchase the speaker tweaker kit.

this photo is a shot inside the door with the MLV that i cut fit and glued into place.

i have to admit i have kind of hit a wall here. i don't know what to do next. do i cover the front of the door (area directly under panel) with CLD tiles? if so, i have no clue on what to cover or how much to use. any tips appreciated.

so i decided to also rip my back seats out at about 10:30 last night because of this rust that was forming on them and i am deadening them anyways. i am going to paint some spectrum on the metal parts and tile. you can see all the rust in this photo.

one of the snags i ran into was that i removed some of the spectrum from the drivers side window prior to putting in tiles. DOH! obviously they did not stick well and they pulled all of the spectrum off when i took them out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif it was only a small area on the bottom of the door, but it still *****. i did not respray that spot.
