Someone must now the right answer to this word problem.

There were these 3 guys been driving all night and decided to pull into a cheap motel to crash for a little while. These 3 dudes go up to the counter and tell the young lady that they need 1 room for the night. The girl tells the guys yes we have a room available and it will cost you $30.00 for the night. The guys said cool that will work we are dead beat tired and ready to rest. So the 3 guys each pull out $10.00 a peice to pay for the room. $10 dollars times 3 guys comes out to $30.00 dollars, no problem. So they pay the young girl and go up to there room. Well soon after the guys went up to there room the young lady realizes she over charged them $5.00 and the room should have only costed them $25.00. So the good little christian girl she is she call the bell-boy up to the front desk and explains what she had done. So she hands the bell-boy 5 one dollar bills and tells him to take it up to these gentlemens room for the $5.00 credit thats owed to them. Well on the way upstairs the bell-boy decides to keep $2 dollars for himself for a little tip. So he gets to the door and knocks and one of the guys open the door. The beel-boy tells him I'm sorry for the interruption but my cashier has overcharged you $3.00 dollars too much for the room so I came to bring it back to you. The guy was impressed by there honesty and told the bell-boy thank you and he shut the door. Well the guy at the door with the $3.00 dollars gave each one of the other 2 guys a dollar back. So basically they all started out by all pitching in $10.00 dollars apeice for the room, then they each get a dollar back, so that means they each paid $9.00 dollars apeice for the room. Well with 3 of them paying $9.00 bucks apeice times 3 comes out to $27.00 dollars they paid for the room, then you add the $2 dollars the bell-boy pocketed for hiself. That adds up to $29.00 dollars, right? Where the heck is the other dollar bill? I'm sure there are a number of you who have heard this question and some that have'nt. I just like to see the diffrent type of solutions that people come up with to find that da*m dollar. Good luck. Later.........

Because after you do 3 * 9 you don't add the 2 dollars the bell boy took, u add the 3 dollars that the guys got back.

Sure they did.

They originally paid $10 each.......then they all got back one dollar.

Im pretty sure that $10-$1=$9. So, $9 x 3=$27. Add in the $2 that the bellboy kept....that comes to $29, leaving $1 missing.

wtf can u guys not read my answer? you don't add the two dollars the bell boy kept, you add the three dollars ther boys got back. the two dollars is what you add the the $25. So $25 + $2 + $3 = $30.

My 7th grade duaghter brought this sh*t home for homework today. I was just wondering if I am the only individual here who thinks this is'nt somthing to give to a 7th grader for home work. because I could give a rats azz where the **** dollar went.
